Bell: "I want to be a Steeler for life"

ANYONE who would say Bell isn't a game changer hasn't watched a single Game in at least two years. IMO. The improvements he made as a player from his first year in the league is remarkable. When healthy is bigger Marshall Faulk. Where Marshall was faster bell is bigger and more powerful. But then again Coach said Bell isn't powerful either.. SMH
He is a game changer. The question is can you pay BB, AB and Bell. And if you can't which of Brown or Bell walks. In my opinion Bell. He is awesome, but more replaceable in my opinion.

Bell was very good as both a runner and pass catcher. A player that a defender needed to key on. He was also a real problem for defenses to match up against. He was not however Jerome or Willie or Barry but something different. It will be interesting to see how he is returning from the big injury he sustained. He maybe just a guy from now on or he could still be very good or somewhere in between. This is not a video game some guys heal up just fine and other guys are never the same again. It is an apple to oranges comparison, but look at how the injury affected one of our kickers last year. I believe it would be prudent to see how the recovery goes before extending Bell.

You guys are forgetting that one after Timmons deal is up we are no longer in cap hell..secondly the salary cap is still going up. Next year its scheduled to make a another significant bump.

Expanding the cap is just the CBA way of giving raises. So every contract goes up by a percentage from the rookie pool to the big UFA's. Pretty tough to get all three of them under contract.

I just don't have a great deal of confidence that a deal gets done. We aren't gonna pay him what some other **** team will.
We will see how bad he wants to be a Steeler I guess.

Like I'm saying, we have him this year and then we FRANCHISE TAG him next season. See where we are at then. Maybe another tag. Have him play this season to see if he merits the big money and is healed and S-T-A-Y-S healthy.

If you don't think Bell can run with power, you better tell the San Diego goal line defense when they knew a run was coming, had him wrapped at the 2 and he still got in the EZ for a win.

Bell would have had 2 Vick wins for us if our kicker didn't have Vanderjackitis.

Oh, and I do know Bell is one of the BEST in the game. One small problem though, you can't be the best if injured, thus the wait and see thing with me. I definately want him back but am a little sceptical as to the high dollars he may want. That is unless he can prove it or merit it.

Ok say he stays healthy this year and finishes tops in the league.
Whats the prediction of what we offer?

The thing that get me is other then the two tackles by the cheating *** Bengals the kid I repeat kid(only 24) he has been very durable. And also doesn't fumble. What more do you want. Blaming Bell for injuries is crazy to me. We don't blame Ben for his.

Nothing wrong with this approach whatsoever. But I'm open to doing a long-term deal with Bell now if it's a fair deal and if he shows his knee is back to 100%. I don't know exactly what fair is (even a fair deal will be a bit shocking only because with the salary cap going up by $10-12 million per year all salaries are going up accordingly), but it needs to reflect that Steelers do have the upper hand because of Bell's puny salary this year (about $1 million) and because we can tag him for 2017 and maybe even 2018.

AGREE, I'm for an agreement today, but a cautious one at that. I feel the let's see what yaz got approach might be the way to go. TRAINING CAMP will show us a lot and then the front office can proceed accordingly. 10-13 mill a year would make sense, 15 may be a little overboard.

Doing something soon, given proper cap space, might be the same as offering AB that deal the one trick pony turned down. It was a year early for AB to resign, but arguably the best move the Steelers FO could have possibly made.
Do it again with Bell? Light on guarantees?

Honestly can't be worried about a deal getting done. Rarely do the Steelers let guys who they want to keep get away and they never shy away from paying guys near the top of their positions. If Bell goes, it's because they don't have a strong desire to keep him and think they can get by with someone else.

This I agree with, Bell's injuries were more freak accident, similar to Pouncey's than they were of an injury prone guy like Woodley once he became out of shape

I think Bell's maturity level should be questioned. He doesn't realize the impact of him tweeting I want 15 million a year ( more than any NFL running back ) , nor did he realize you could get a DUI with POT. His make up quotes to me mean very little. Had he realized what he was saying in real time, he'd have put it differently.

95% of drafted Steelers in their contract year all say the same thing which roughly equates to " I'd love to stay here or I want to remain a Steeler " If you see what a player says and does, he can easily contradict himself in hindsight.

I hope the Steelers wait until the end of the season before offering him any contract. Let Bell earn it by staying healthy and clean in the 2016 season.

I really don't know where you develop your analysis to form these opinions...

His singing and talking and tweeting or whatever else is going on might be important if he was going to be the media representative for the team. Since he is being paid to run the football and catch it I would be more interested in how well he does that than any of the other things. I believe he has passed his last several drug tests unlike one of the guys on the team last year. The big question will be his injury recovery.

Was I wrong?

I agree with Steeler B. After this new news and his injuries will probably send the Steelers seeking new blood in the draft.

Well Le'veon, wish in one hand and **** in the other.
