Andrew Luck. HOW much?

Too high. What has he even proved yet?

He flat out sucked last season.

Not really that crazy.

In 2013, Flacco signed a 6-year, $120M.

Kind of a similar circumstance. 15% increase in QB wage vs. a 25% in the salary cap.

It's the guaranteed money that's the crazy part. 87m... that's 23m more than Rodgers, 24m more than Ben

Flacco had WON A SUPER BOWL before he got that deal. Luck? Not even close.

Putting all your eggs in one basket. But in today's NFL if you have an above average QB you have to pay him top 5 money. Its the presedent that they've set.

I think Luck is definitely a better QB than Captain Jump Ball. In all seriousness, I grudgingly admit that Flacco is good, I think Luck is better though.

Luck is very good...but the last 2 years have been a struggle....crazy money for where his career is at.

he's been a victim of a ****** oline too, only the great can survive that ( Like Ben did)

I could have understood him getting Jump Ball's money, and I understand that it is the going rate (I guess) for franchise QBs. I just would take Wilson, Carr and $cam Newton over Luck. He's a good QB. Zero debate about that, but I'd rather take those three over him. In that order I'd add. If I were to build a franchise today Wilson would be my pick to start with.

but the thing is the Colts have Luck on their roster, not Cam, Wilson or Carr. Either you roll the dice on your good QB or you transfer him for a load of picks and pray that a great one falls to your lap on draft day

Hence my regretfully understanding it. Almost 90 Milly guaranteed is the part that has me

We certainly gets all the gloss. But fact is, he stunk it up last year.

Flacco proved he can win a ring. Huge difference.

He played elite football in the playoffs leading to that SB. He was unshakeable.

Pay luck like Flacco, colts will follow in raven's shoes, become irrelevant due to cap issues. I didn't see anything from luck these last two years. Don't give me that "bad OL ****", BEN played behind the WORST offensive line in the league for near 8years.

Salute the nation

Too much money, he's been annointed the next best ever before really accomplishing anything. I have a gut feeling Derek Carr is going to end up be very special before it's all said and done.

I think it's a bit much, but scarcity could have something to do with it.

With Peyton Manning retired, Brady old, and Brees old, the elite level talent at quarterback will dip, perhaps by 2017. Ben might be the premier in the game for a while.

While Luck, Dalton, Newtown and other younger QB's are good, none of them are the class of the above players, but Luck has the ability to get there. So the Colts gave him a small mint. Let the other teams overpay for their QB's, Flacco style.

This ^...

Luck played last year with a lacerated kidney! Dude has been single-handedly carrying the Colts and even got them into the playoffs. Kid really is that good and if Indy ever gets their heads out of their rectums and surrounds him with actual talent, he could be the best in the league

The guarantees in this case don't mean much. Luck is going to be the quarterback there for the next decade. He's getting ALL of this contract at least over the next 6 seasons (in fact most of the last year will probably be ripped up for even more money).

If anything it just shows how much Flacco was overpaid. Luck is better than Flacco yet while the salary cap went up 25% since Flacco's deal, Luck only got 15% more.

That savings is because unlike the Ravens, the Colts at least did the deal with one year left on Luck's rookie contract while the Ravens decided to wait, apply the franchise tag and THEN negotiate the deal around a 2nd franchise tag value (which is really big money).

Not really that bad a deal. I don't know what the hubbub is about.

Is there a Mrs. Lucky?

^ This, too!
Ben had weapons to utilize when he didn't have his O-line.
Luck......not so much. ( Trent Richardson, 900 year old Yodas Frank Gore and Ahmad Bradshaw ).
He had Reggie Wayne at the end of his career, so other injury prone fellas, and some young inexperienced cats.
Last year he was awful, but for obvious reasons. He played REALLY hurt.

I think he can be great.
But he does have to prove it.......but he has to have a supporting cast, too starting with the O-Line.

Luck likes to play hero football. A weak OL + weak outside skill players are a bad mix for QBs that like to play hero.
