Settle an argument my wife and I have been having ever since the Steelers beat the Seahawks. We frequently watch the highlights and when we get to the part when the game is in hand and Cowher relaxes and starts hugging the players there's always that highlight where he's hugging Hines Ward and Hines seems to back away.

Well, he actually does but that's the the argument we have everytime we watch. She says that Hines secretly doesn't like him so he's backing away because he doesn't want to get close to him. (It's part of her theory that he was a weak leader....i disagree) I say it's just a natural move for him. Perhaps he doesn't like physical contact of any kind...Maybe Bill has halitosis or something. Or, maybe Bill is so strong and emotional that he pushed him too hard. It literally could be anything. It's just something we argue about every time we see it. :/:

Sorry if this topic has already been discussed. I know it was 10 years ago. But I also know that this site has reset at least 4 times since then and there's no way to search. And...any chance to talk about that SB win is always fun...

Uh...er, um.......i honestly dont recall that. Nor do I recall any issues between cowher and ward. Methinks the wife might have herself quite the active imagination

Yeah, Cowher and Ward were pretty close. Cowher had respect from a lot of his players. Ben was kinda the rebel child when he won the Super Bowl. But I don't think he caused enough drama. Look at the players now. As much as we bash Tomlin, he generally gets respect from his guys

Wife is thinking too much.

women...

My wife and I have a running argument over ketchup. She thinks Heinz tastes better than any other ketchup, and I can't tell the difference.

I thought that argument was silly until I read this.

Thank you. I am glad to know it isn't just my wife and I who argue over silly ****.

BINGO!!!!! Hines Ward hated physical contact. Shied away from it on and off the field.

Hines and Cowher? No problem there. Now if she were talking about Ben and Cowher I would buy it. I don't think they were all that close.

Apostate!!! Heinz is the only true ketchup. Listen to your wife.

Apostate. Secret of marriage. Agree with your wife about everything and get drunk with your buddies and complain about her at least once a week.
Has worked in the Sask household for 18 blissful years.

No, I recall it pretty vividly. It _appeared_ that Hines had some apprehension when Cowher went to hug him. But, I never heard any more about it other than seeing Hines look like he wanted no part of hug. If Hines did have a problem with Cowher, he never spoke out about it that I know of.

maybe Ward was just not ready to celebrate, the game was not over yet...still time on the clock who knows what the **** might have happened....

Bingo. After crying his eyes out the year before, Ward want going to celebrate until the clock was all zeros

Their MUSTARD is the BESTEST too!!!!!!!!

As for the Ward Cohwer thing, get over it, could have been anything from a hang nail to a Heinz stepped on Bill's toe and stepped back to not put full force on it........ **** HAPPENS.

I don't recall the Ward incident, but i remember Cowher going up to hug Ben and Ben said i'll hug you in a minute, the game's not over. My guess is Ward pushed away to see something on the field, or he thought the hug might jinx it at that point.

It is yet another small example of how we have become a ***** society. Everybody has to get along!

It is of no concern of mine if Ward and Cowher like each other. They won. That is what matters. Not everyone is going to get along, even when things are going well. You aren't going to like everybody. We need to stop advancing this idea that perfect harmony needs to be, and be realistic. You don't need to like everybody, But you need to be as respectful as possible.

Does anybody NOT remember the INDY game just 3 weeks earlier??

Or the Jets Playoff game one year earlier.

We tried to GIVE those games away in the waning moments......we advanced because of missed FG's

I know exactly what you're talking about and remember it pretty well. When Cowher is talking to Hines, it looks as though Hines doesn't want much to do with him and doesn't hardly acknowledge him(i.e. Look him in the eyes). However, I dunno if there is any sort of "beef" between the two as I don't think there's been anything of the sort reported about it.

Maybe he just did not want to be in range of the flying spit

All things considered, this is the most likely. Hines was a team guy, to say the least. I don't think he had a problem with Bill. He hasn't said anything since.

AND................Your mad why ??????

Not made. Enjoyed celebreties fondling me. Just disappointed in the size of Cowhers penis and the fact that Hines didn't want to get in there and get his hands dirty...
