While I like Mettenberger as a backup, let's not rush to call him anything more than that.
The guy is 0-10 as a starter and has 10 games of professional tape for every GM to watch around the league and not ONE team seems to offer anything (even a 7th round pick) to Tennessee to get the guy very cheap for the two remaining years on his rookie contract. That is NOT a good sign the pro scouts seem to think highly of the guy right now. I don't really understand why when these same GM's and scouts are advocating drafting really bad college QB's, but that's what the tea leaves are suggesting.
Personally, it was pretty ****** of Tennessee to drop him after the draft and you wonder if they were shopping him at all on draft week. You think he has to be better that someone like Nate Sudfeld, Jake Rudock, Jeff Driskel or Brandon Doughty.
I really don't understand what some front offices are thinking on QB's. Do they really all think their "guy" is another Tom Brady in round 6? Wouldn't it make more sense to get a guy with 10 NFL starts, at least some proficiency to be an emergency backup and has been in the NFL for two years and understands the work of preparing for an NFL game plan?
Stupid....
