New PSU information.

No you're right. All any of them could do was sit on their hands while Jerry hung out with one little boy after another. That's what you'd do, right?

He reported it to the athletic director and the VP of the university. He never reported it to CPS or the actual police. Yes, he could have made that call. He could have gone back to Curley and Schultz and said "Hey, what's going on with the Jerry thing? Did you report him to the police? Cause Jerry hangs out with little boys all the time and that's probably not a good thing, right?"

Now there is evidence that other assistant coaches witnessed things...you think they never mentioned that to Joe? I have no doubt he knew about the earlier police investigation too. Everyone involved in this knew for years what Jerry was or at least had very strong suspicions, and they were more worried about how it would look to the public than what Jerry was doing to those little boys. They let Jerry spend time with little boys in locker rooms, in bathrooms, in hotel rooms...and you are telling me they did everything they could? Every single person who knew about this and did nothing and let the administration do nothing is just as guilty. Joepa is the only one some people will defend with their last breath.

Listen I already stated I don't have a dog in this fight so I'm not defending anyone to my dying breath. It's an emotionally charged topic, I get that. If he didn't report it to the Police or CPS he didn't do enough clearly. That can't be disputed. I always read that he reported it to the Police so I thought that was the case. You are saying he didn't report it to anyone in authority outside the college and that it was reported to him by several sources that this was going on. If that's the case, he's guilty plain and simple. I'd never heard that reported as fact before.

This is all irrelevant, ok? IF the cops got this report and did nothing then it would be on the cops. THE COPS NEVER GOT THIS REPORT.

Are you telling me a kid at your school was accused of sexual abuse multiple times and you and other employees ignored it? You just let this kid hang out with younger kids alone on a regular basis? You didn't supervise him or keep him away from the younger or weaker kids? Honestly, a kid is accused of bullying at my kids' school and he gets detention, probation, and eventually suspended and expelled if the allegations continue. You're telling me your school received multiple allegations of sexual abuse and DID NOTHING while he continued to abuse other kids?

If so you are all as guilty as he is.

You are being purposely obtuse. It was reported. The police and CPS if they investigated it didn't find anything, at least initially, as far as we knew. I have tried to explain things. Once they didn't, you have to, by law assume it was unfounded and act accordingly. What do you think would happen in court if a kid was innocent and the school separated him out on an allegation? Also, it is a hell of a lot different time in 2016 than in 1993. There was no Columbine yet or public knowledge of Sandusky. Both of those things have made a drastic change in the way bullying and abuse situations are handled.

Just imagine if we could just easily separated kids out like you seem to think. Imagine the schools we would have. Keep away the kids suspected of smoking too much weed. Keep away the kids who have home lives that cause hem to be unable to focus in school and cause disruptions. Hey, while we are at it, let's keep those life skills kids in wheelchairs out of there. Nobody wants to see that.

Dude, your story is just not really ringing true to me, in 1993 or now. A kid is accused multiple times of sexual abuse, it is investigated each time by the police and CPS, and never found to be credible enough to protect other kids from this kid? That's highly unlikely. I'm gonna have to call bullshit on that one. The parents of the kid who was raped certainly have a case for criminal negligence.

Something from 1976? I'm calling BS on this one. Where was this information when it mattered? Someone told me my kid misbehaved about 4 or 5 months after the fact. Look, if you don't have the guts to tell me when it happened, as far as I am concerned it didn't happen.

I think this whole deal goes way beyond a head football coach overlooking pedophilia. Been saying that all along.

I think all of us Paterno "defenders", for lack of a better word, are saying is cases like this tend to create a witch hunt atmosphere. We'll never know exactly what he "knew" and when. I suspect he is guilty of arrogance and denial if nothing else, but I'm far more convinced Paterno (and PSU) are getting more than their share of the blame because of their profile. Paterno is not Jerry Sandusky, he's not Mike McQuerry, he's not McQuerry's father.

As a teenager, I really admired Jo Pa. For shame.

Growing up I never cared for Joe Pa because people talked of him as a God here......but I always respected him for running a clean program. I am thinking I wasn't the only one fooled.

I have nothing bad to say about Penn State or their fans or Irish Catholics

I love how a blurb in a document directed to an insurance company trying to get money has become a cold hard fact. Kinda reminds me of when this all first went down all these "facts" and then just a few short months later these "facts" became complete BS.

It's funny how people are vilifying Paterno worse than Jerry Sandusky for unsubstantiated accusations. The only documented time Joe Paterno was told or had any knowledge of Sandusky was in 2001 when he went to the president and athletic directors and set up a meeting with his assistant coach. I know people think Paterno should have single handily arrested Jerry Sandusky but believe it or not Paterno isn't a cop, the president of the school, or the attorney general of the state. All which had knowledge of the accusations against Sandusky. ALL who dropped the ball on it.

Paterno and Penn State could have let Sumbag Sandusky go when his contract was up long ago or fired him on the spot. If they needed him that badly, then what does it say about Paterno to coach defense, or recurit a better replacment? Wasn't Sanduscky banned from campus before the news came out?

Why would he? Would you let someone go for no apparent reason because 30 years later you will find out he's a pervert? Oh, I forget Paterno has ESP or a spirit guide that should have told him what he will find out in the future... Yeah, now I get it. Damn, I always forget about the spirit guide telling everyone the future so they know what to do earlier in life. Gets me every time!

Find out in the future? He knew about this **** for a while man. Why are people so much in denial about this. Who cares about defending Penn State or Paterno when countless kids lives were ruined. Why are people trying to make excuses for something that is horrible and obvious.

Well, geez you need a spirit guide to tell you what to do what witnesses saw some piece of **** playing hide the sausage with some 11-year old boys? You need ESP to figure out you stamp that monster out like stepping on a roach?

Jopa knew it was going on, and he allowed that filth to keep an office on campus.

He knowingly allowed those crimes to continue.

Yet everyone involved states he found out in 2001. Hmmm. Well, I guess a blurb in an insurance report is cold hard facts... blah blah heard this crap before and in 3 months this will be shown to be BS also.

LMFAO!!! So it's now Jo Paternos decision who can and cannot come onto campus or have an office at the college... DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW MORONIC YOU SOUND! HE WAS THE FOOTBALL COACH NOT THE GD ATHLETIC DIRECTOR OR PRESIDENT OF THE COLLEGE!

If you think that Joe Paterno was just "the football coach," you really don't understand just how powerful the man was. If Paterno had requested to the President of the University that Sandusky never be allowed back on that campus, then he wouldn't have been allowed back on the campus. Fact is, he never made that request, people all around Sandusky knew he was a creep and an abuser and nobody did anything about it...

Pattern did the minimum...and went back to football.

If you really believe he just found out in 2001 I have some ocean front property in Oklahoma to show you as well. Cmon. I mean really.

Every time I read garbage like that I just laugh. Joe Paterno...The most powerful man in PA....lol

Just accuse FORMER coaches of pedophilia and demand that they never set foot on campus again.

Where is the EASY button when you need it?

Look, I am sure you are a good guy, first off. Secondly, I have zero reason to lie. I don't give two ***** if they put his statue back up or not. I don't care if they take back his wins. I will not afffect my life one way or the other. If you notice, I have not defended Paterno. Part of the reason for that is that even though I am a PSU grad, as is my daughter, I never looked at Joe Paterno as anything other than a football coach. I was lucky in that I didn't need people to look up to beyond my dinner table, and after reading "Three Bricks Shy of A Load," with Ernie Holmes problems as well as the problems with Joe Gilliam when I was a kid I realized that these myths we build about our teams are often bullshit. I have tried to explain how the reporting system worked back then, and even today to some degree, and I took issue with someone saying his family should shut up. C'mon, it's family. They will always defend.

However, you just don't know what you are talking about. This is a inner city situation. While there were multiple reports to us, and we reported it to the police and CPS, I don't know what happened to be honest. Once we reported it, we were out of the loop. But I have my assumptions. Mistrust of the police. Stories change. And something that is very important and this happened in the old days all the time. Remember, this **** has been going on forever, it ain't new. But in the old days nobody wanted to admit their son may have been molested. That attitude is still pervasive in some places that aren't full of soccer moms. It comes out your son was molested, he is in for years of verbal abuse from other kids. Hell, the kid ended up getting molested in the alley, who the hell knew where Dad was, Mom was a mess herself. Just by your "the parents have a case for criminal negligence" comment shows you don't understand. How is anybody going to sue for criminal negligence when Dad can't be found and Mom is hopped up on everything known to man? And in the event, maybe someone did. The molester was arrested and we never saw him again. As for the molested kid, I would never have been privy to that information, either.

So your logic is I have put my feet in the ocean in California and Florida and drove through flat dry Oklahoma but you tell me there's oceanfront property in Oklahoma and I should blindly believe it. Sounds kinda stupid right. I have first hand knowledge of the geography of the United States and Oklahoma.

Please tell me what first hand knowledge you have about Joe Paterno? Because if you believe everything you read I have some oceanfront property in Arizona for you.

Who's being naive now, Kay? Jopa had more power than anyone in Happy Valley. If you don't realize this, your level of gullibility is colossal.

Then why doesn't Obama stop child abuse in this country? He has more power than anyone in the USA? Why didn't Bush stop those attacks on the world trade center? He was the most powerful man in the country at that time.

Paterno was a football coach, a football coach they could not fire even though many wanted him to leave but still in the end he was just an X's and O's coach. And when he did get word of Sandusky 2001 when you know those little things called facts prove it he went to the people who are SUPPOSED to deal with these situations.

in the end he was just an X's and O's coach.

Actually he wasn't even that in the end. There is a list a mile long of people who dropped the ball who had way more authority to actually do something about it besides Paterno.

It just way too easy to try to shift the focus to the old dead football coach...

What I want to know is how in the hell the second mile and its employees are never scrutinized? They very charity Jerry used to get to these kids was never called into question?

I imagine if you dig too deep into those files you might find out what actually happened to Ray Gricar......

The hard way.

Because the all powerful and omnipotent Joe Paterno should have single handily arrested, convicted, and executed Sandusky back in 1944 when Sandusky was an infant.
