Josh Norman a UFA

And the Timdong haters are coming out from under the baseboards. Someone turn on a light.

Only 3 mil in space at the moment, not enough restructing in the world without cutting to make it happen. The Jags or somebody else will pick him up. Would be nice tho to have CB locked up before the draft and not even worry about drafting the position.

The mocks I've seen have the Jags targeting a LB and that's with them drafting at #5 where they could easily grab an elite CB, indicating that they seem content with the CB's they have, that's if the mocks are correctly gauging their needs. Of course if another team who drafts ahead of us grabs Norman then it would increase the chances that a solid corner falls to us which would be fine if it happened.

Lol, Timmons has been the most over rated player on this team since he's been in the league. Picked 15th overall, 9 years in the league but only made 1 Pro-Bowl, only has 28 career sacks in 9 years(thats average about 3 sacks a year), probably lead the league in missed takles and whiffs by a LB last year, but after this year he'd made 60+ mil in his career. He's been a over paid bust in this league for years.

He wasn't used properly in Carolina League minimum in the black and gold?..

He has been very consistant. The defense is not what it used to be but Timmons has held his own.

It would be nice to have him. Way nice. But like every one is saying, too expensive

Idioteque? Is that you?

Define him as being "consistant". Yeah Timmons makes takles and doesn't come off the field I'll give him that, but being picked 15th overall and constantly paid as a top 5 LB (highest paid this year) he should have alot more to show than that. Norman wants 15 mil this year and he's a game changing shut down corner and probably best at his position. Timmons is getting paid 15 mil this year and he well.. makes takles.. (sometimes).

panthers know he's overrated. he's a good player on a strong defense that plays to his strengths. He's not a guy you ruin your cap to keep.

Baltimore has some cap space this year but they've pushed a lot into the future with restructures. Since they've already done all the restructuring they can do it's highly doubtful they could do a big long term contract like that with the bills coming due over the next few seasons. So even though we have less cap space right now we actually have more wiggle room, especially when our contract extensions kick in.

I hear you, and if it was me i'd try to make it happen. Its a shame we're actually paying Timmons 15+ mil this year... and in terms of talent and what they bring to the team its not even close. Thankfully he'll be off the books next year and we'll actually have cap room to work with.

Timmy makes $8.75M this year. His CAP is 15M.

Timmy should have made 3 pro bowls. He's also been our best defender while our defence transitions to youth.

This is Russel okung all over again

So the Steelers actually called him? I'm shocked.

Me too!

We got us a bidding war!

SF, TB, PIT, MIA pursuing Josh Norman

The Charlotte Observer reports "8-9 teams" have contacted free agent Josh Norman since the Panthers rescinded his franchise tag, including the 49ers, Buccaneers, Steelers, and Dolphins.

That was four hours ago. While some folks trying to force contrarians have argued Norman simply "isn't that good," or might have been let go for schematic reasons, at least 25 percent of the NFL disagrees and believes Norman would help their team.

Playing a man-coverage-oriented style of Cover 3 in Carolina last year, Norman permitted a league-low 54.0 QB rating on passes thrown into his coverage, also forcing seven turnovers with two pick-sixes. Unsurprisingly, Norman is already in high demand around the league

According to Profootballreferenc he has 33 sacks. There are 38 LB's with more during that same period. Not one of those with more sacks has more interceptions. The closest is Peppers with 2 less and the next has 4 less. Only 2 LB's have more int's over that period, btw (Dansby and Johnson). Of the 38 with more sacks only 2 have more passes defensed.

I know how irrelevant tackles are so very, very unimportant, but only 7 LB's show up with more tackles than Timmons over that period.

During the 2014 season (maybe last season), due to other injuries, switched from Mack to Buck during games.

Sounds about average.

I've never seen the Steelers "be interested" in so many guys they really aren't even close to signing. The Steelers could probably be in the market for what a 3-4 million dollar guy. Do they really think Norman is signing for 3-4 million. I don't know why these rumours are starting but the last two Okung and Weddle signed contracts that were more than miles away from where the Steelers could have been in negotiations.

Probably dialed the wrong number. Rotary phones and all.

Makes you wonder if the agent doesn't look at rosters and who needs a cb and viola the Steelers are interested. In what? His franchise tag was 14 million. He is not playing for less than 7 per on a long term. And I doubt it's 7. How the hell would the Steelers pay that.

We could cut Timdong, DeCastro, Pouncey, AB and get Ben to restructure. Then we have a shot!
