Panthers rescind franchise tag on Norman. Think we will make a play for him? Price tag to great?

I think if we could land him he would be a huge upgrade. Thoughts?!

My thought if he almost got the franchise tag which for a corner must be over 10 million, I don't think there is any way the Steelers could be in that ballpark.

Think maybe we kick the tires and see where he is at? Hate to see him play for the Rats or Bungles.

He would be nice to have but I think his asking price is going to be way more than we are willing to pay.

If he signs with the Ravens or Bungles I'm going to be pissed. Why in the **** are we not re-signing DE Castro and Timmons which would lower the cap and perhaps allow us to possibly bring in Norman? Man with him here and Golson coming back plus talent early in the draft, we can get fixed in the secondary real quick.

We could get SS (Karl Joseph) and DT/DE early...

Superbowl!?!?!

Going to be something like 5 years and 80 million, or thereabouts. There's plenty of teams that can afford him and I wouldn't be shocked if he was a Jaguar by noon tomorrow. They still have 50million in cap space and could easily structure a large pay as you go type deal with him and guarantee the first couple three seasons.

The only problem with taking an upper tier free agent is you have to sacrifice who you can resign. I personally would rather use the cap money to resign Decastro, Bell, Brown, Tuitt over the next 2 years, then blow the load on a FA corner.

We did kick the tires on Revis last offseason, so I'm sure there may be interest by the Steelers, I'm just not sure if his dollars are worth not resigning our young core on offense.

If we just flat out cut Timmons and start Vince Williams we'll save 9 million this year.. Jus sayin.. but no way in hell I see us paying 16-18 mil a year for a CB.

I think Norman is about to come crashing back down to earth. 16+ million? He ain't Regis or a QB so 10+ million is tops.

He wants 16-18 million. No way we could or would even entertain it.

Exactly - the Madden GM's think they wave magic play money around and get these FA's - I laugh every time

The Jags still have over $50M to play with - he might go there

He don't care about winning. If he did, he would have stayed with the Panthers.

He's going to a garbage team with tons of cap space so he can catch a blockbuster contract.

Don't want him, can't use him.

What is our current cap situation and could it work with some restructuring? Maybe the chance at a ring could spur his interest and bring about a workable deal. Revis went to NE when he could've easily gone to the Jags or some other perennial loser with deeper cap space so anything's possible.

I'm in. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing the front office pull a John Elway and go all in to win a ******* ring next year. Yeah, yeah, it's not smart blah blah blah. We're all over due to see our team win another super bowl. And with it, Ben R undoubtedly cements his spot in Canton, Ohio. Now, back in the real world, it probably isn't close to being realistic with the cap situation.

I hear you, and if it was me i'd try to make it happen. Its a shame we're actually paying Timmons 15+ mil this year... and in terms of talent and what they bring to the team its not even close. Thankfully he'll be off the books next year and we'll actually have cap room to work with.
