Former Saints and OSU DE Will Smith Murdered.

Police found him slumped over his steering wheel, so I'm wondering, did he get out of his car and then get back in, or did the dude shoot him before he even had a chance to get out of the vehicle?

That second part sounds right based off the quote from the police. Wife shot twice in the right leg? IMO...Standing over the driver shooting downward and rounds got through an exit wound and hit her in the leg. Tragic. Unless Smith had a gun and there is evidence of him pointing it at the Hummer driver, there is no justification for senseless rage like that. Sad!

damnnnnnn

Jesus. There are maniacs everywhere, you really gotta be careful about who you confront these days even if they are completely at fault. Scary. From the report it sounds like he got out of the vehicle after the accident to confront the guy. I'm guessing the wanna be gangster whipped out a gun and Smith hurried up and got back in the vehicle. Seems the other guy was bent on murder at that point because he got "dissed". ******* people. SMH.

Senseless crap like this pisses me off. The killer was slapped on the hand previously for illegally carrying weapons.

I'll just stay rural, creeps me out being in the city anymore. Oh we have plenty of guns around but done legally for the most part. We tend to get along even if we don't like each other.

That's ******* crazy. Since he was slumping over the steering wheel maybe he was going for his own gun. Maybe he had one under the seat. Idk just saying.

New Orleans has always been a ****-hole, nearly 200 murders a year. In the early 2000s they were pushing 300.

If you are sitting behind the wheel of a car and you get shot to death you are gonna be slumped over the wheel no matter what you were doing.

I wonder what 'words were exchanged' really means? If this guy walked up to the window of a car that he just rear-ended and shot the driver over some 'words', then he should be fried extra crispy. Smith was a big boy, I doubt he let some runt talk **** after damaging his car, I wonder if things got physical, not that it would be any justification for shooting someone after he got back into car. But in today's world, if you put your hands on someone, even if they're only half your size, you'd better beat them unconscious, or this result is a very real possibility.

NO is one of the most dangerous **** hole cities in the US.

Even the cops are beyond corrupt. Walk down the wrong street, just one block away from the French Quarters, and you end up dead. Been there over a dozen times.

Here's the perp

Suspect arrested in death of Saints defensive end Will Smith

Cardell Hayes, 28, was arrested on a charge of second-degree murder in Smith's death...police said Hayes was the driver of a Humvee H2

guy was a punk

saw a few of his pics flicking off people , showing shitload of money laying on a pool table, one pic making a finger imaginary gun pose, arrested on prior gun charges, unlicensed .

Just a real tool.

This just adds to the notion thats "guns dont kill people. People kill people" the majority of gun owners are responsible such as your area. Then you have criminals who tarnish a right for others. Senseless act of violence on the killer

amazing how certain people think they are tough as hell cause they have a gun...bunch of stupid thugs...

I hope this black life matters.

Probably not, though. Doesn't fit the agenda.

Prayers to his family.

The thing is **** like this happens daily in New Orleans. There are rules for visiting New Orleans like stay in the well lit tourist areas around the French Quarter. Don't cut between buildings and go through alleys and stay on the interstate untill you get to Meterie or Slidell. If this guy wasn't a retired pro athlete this would not even be a news story because it happens so much in the Crescent City.
