I looked it up on ESPN and we are not the worst in cap space we are the 3rd worst,, ie almost the least cap space.
Cleveland who signs and jettisons round one players year after year,,, are in top teams with most cap space. Weird.. I guess its because most of their picks don't see their 2nd contract.

Anyway. I saw the list of players (big list of good players) we have let walk. Apparently we don't have the money to even sign them (the walkers) let alone anyone new.

Im thinking, the Steelers cant possibly plan on going into the season like this at Defensive Back. They cant depend on a rookie D back even if he is taken in round 1. So where are we getting an upgrade before the season starts?

But I don't know the cap like some people.

Maybe there will be a pre june 1st cut of good players from other teams who want paid.

Maybe the Steelers plan on picking up some vets during camp cuts.

But no matter how it happens we apparently need some more money to do this. Unless theses sites listed below don't take into account the players that have left.

or Maybe Tombert is a genius and trades shamarko for Patrick Peterson

post June 1 cuts:
Cortez Allen, Suisham, Mike Adams, Shark

Cleveland might sign first round rejects but who is their 20+ million dollar QB? This team can't sign anything but fill at this point, but that is all that is left anyway. When they were talking about Weddle and the LT from Seattle when FA started that was a f'n joke.

Need secondary

Is there anyone in free agency the Steelers might sign?

I can see Timmons taking a big pay cut. He's been great but it's time. If they really want to sign more FAs they can still restructure some contracts.

We need a capologist and a 3rd party opinion on which players deserve 2nd-year contracts. We also need a sharp minded Ax man to cut older veterans who are no longer playing up to the level of their current contracts.

The Woodley and Allen fiasco's were a kick in the shorts, and trading away draft picks for players for one year, and hardly playing him ( Boykin ) shows a tremendous disconnect between the GM and coaches.

Essentially Colbert and Tomlin can thank their lucky stars they have Ben. He makes up for many blunders.

When Ben goes we will see just how much of an elite coach Tomlin is.

Tomlin's contract expires about the same time Ben will likely retire. Elite coaches are NOT 1-4 in their last 5 playoff games, and the " 1 " was gift wrapped by Cincy.

How was it gift wrapped, exactly?

Also, we went 3-2 when Ben was out last year. That's not exactly a dumpster fire, as you are implying.

The FO hasn't restructured any contract this off-season, which is a great thing thinking on the cap in the future but right now it feels like that much needed DB help didn't come. Let's hope there's a post June 1st cut that can be brought to help the team

Another point is that the market price was really over inflated and maybe it was a very good decision to not get in cap hell for an overrated player.

It was gift wrapped in that if we didn't get 30 yards on penalties in one play, we lose. Those 30 yards were not earned by the Steelers; they were indeed a gift.

Don't get me wrong: I loved that we won and totally took a piss in Cinci fans cereal, but the win was lucky as hell.

Antonio Brown sure as hell earned that 15 yard penalty

I think the game plan was to fill as many holes as possible, so we can focus on just a few priorities in the draft, which it appears are CB and S, 3rd-string RB, OLB, NT. It is manageable. Most of us forget that we have Golson in the wings at CB, who never played a down last season. If we manage to improve the D to middle of the pack, with our potent O, we could contend. With all the injuries of last season, we STILL managed to contend. We had the eventual SB winners on the ropes and would have likely won if not for the untimely fumble of our 4th-string RB. Our passing D was horrid 30th, but the D was 11th in giving up points. Improve the pass D to 20th and move points against to top 10 and we are in biz.

and if Brown, Bell, and Ben wasn't injured from targeting, no way it comes down to those penalties.

He got tired of some posters following him around and trying to challenge him on everything just to cause an argument. I think the Dri thread is when he left. I know he reads sometimes.
I think it was more than that. He hasn't posted over at the Universe board for quite some time. I think it was a combination of that and personal things he was going through.

To also be fair I believe one poster was canned that was considered cancerous.

Sometimes you have to cut those types out before it spreads.

It's a shame about tmc, he was our top draft guy and capologist.
