Would you take this draft?

I don't think I'd take it. That 1st could become a 10th pick if **** hits the fan

If the Steelers end the season with the 10th pick in the draft it will be more than &hit hitting the fan.

The only way I'm giving up a 2017 first rounder is if I can get Bronson Kaufusi AND Sua Cravens in this draft. But then, I think you could trade out of the first round this year and still accomplish this. So it's not worth it.

Did you see how Cravens ran? 4.69. This is too slow for saftey, and at 221 pounds he's too small for a linebacker. A tweener type. No way do I want him in round one or two.

You nailed the first part. In Football, the worse your defense is, the more you need a better punter. This is a very good draft for punters.

Berry is 30th on average, and 27th on net. But there isn't a stat for when a big punt is needed, and he tends to shrink in these moments.

GIve me a guy with a better leg, and better hang time. You can find that in the draft in rounds 6 or 7.

As long as we have addressed WR/KR, OT, an interior OL, DE, DT, OLB, CB and S first I'd start mulling over a punter in the 7th...problem is we don't have that many picks. I'd still personally add RB and developmental QB before P as "need".

With so many college teams and usually only a handful of punters drafted I'm of the opinion that punters can be had as UDFAs. Bring in a couple and let them battle Berry. There is no need to draft punters when they can be had for free.

Berry's hang time was actually pretty decent which is why around 50% of his punts were not returned. As with any position competition for the job is needed, but not through the draft in our current scenario.

and he declined I think some pro day workouts if I remember correctly.

Yeah I cooled my jets on this prospect, I think in 2...I am wanting a S than can be a FS and a SS...

Football players play football, track stars run track.

The list of bad 40 time Hall of Famers is a long one.

yeah but were they position confused, slow 40, and with the chance to improve on 40, turn down the opportunity?

He has backtracked on his initial want of being just a OLBer, and he does have some traits to obviously like.

But I am not sure he is more than a SS. And in saying that Polamalu could play FS and SS.

I was under the presumption through reading the Steelers prefer just that, someone that can play both short and deep at the position.

So however I might like what he brings to the table as a "player" I am not sure the Steelers would see him as a schematic fit..............

And at the end of the day, we'll probably go corner so it's moot. I just want to see Jarvis replaced. He's never going to be a pass rusher and without someone to counterbalance Dupree, we're always going to be a little short of our sack goals. We're so close to building a SB winner, this draft is crucial. The NFL wouldn't know what to do with a LB the size of Kaufusi who can drop into coverage AND bend the corner to beat offensive tackles like Nine Deuce.

Same here. If he's on the board in round three and we already picked CB and DL, I'd be okay putting him on the short list, but nothing before that!

I do think the game of football is evolving a bit on defense, and a new position for a hybrid OLB / S fits the nickel and dime well. This player primary role would be short to medium or zone, to chase down ball carriers or QB's from reaching the first down marker, and offer blitzing options. Like Troy used to in his prime.
