G/T Geoff Schwartz is visiting the Steelers

And the D-line...

Mike Martin DT Michigan
http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/mike-martin?id=2532901

Draft Analysis:

Mayock's take: "This is a pass-rushing interior threat. Martin comes in, and he'll be explosive for them. This is a defensive tackle who is active and can stop the run, as well as pass rush from the inside."

Height: 6'1"
Arm Length: 32 1/4"
Weight: 306 LBS.
Hands: 9 1/8"

Overview
Martin has started the past three years inside for Michigan after making a nice impact as a true freshman. He is a tough and durable player who relies on his strength to control blockers and make plays. His strength is what defines him.

Strengths
Martin has a good feel for offensive lines and block schemes and how to slant inside of lineman to get into the backfield. He is very strong against the run and can neutralize any blocker. He can hold up a block, and then shed to get to the ball. He plays with instincts and is strong.

Weaknesses
Martin can struggle in space and is a stout player at the point, but he really doesn't have much production rushing the passer. Once in the backfield, he has a tough time running down the quarterback, and his athletic ability can be exposed in space.

beat me to it....

glad they are shopping for depth.....

Wisniewski and Martin would be excellent pickups to shore up the depth. Wisniewski especially since OL is not very deep in the draft.

I liked Martin coming out of the draft but he hasn't done much for Tenn. He's likely not going to cost a ton and Tenn, with Dick Lebeau, is willing to let him go.

If they sign these 2 then they have no holes on the team, meaning they would be drafting upgrades, not needs.

This means they can ignore OL completely and i think that is so they can then spend picks at QB and WR and maybe Punter.

I am amazed at how agressive the STEELERS are being durring this free agency period. Most players in my "rock" solid memory......

Salute the nation

Didn't we have an offensive lineman with the last name Wisniewski that we also picked up in free agency back in the Korky years that was a solid backup at every position? Wonder if he's any relation? If he is maybe we have the leg p on him. Also Martin is solid and if we pick up those two we can concentrate on the secondary hardcover in the draft. Even though we all know the first pick will be a linebacker. Smh

Geoff Schwartz - G - Lions
http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/4976/geoff-schwartz

Lions signed RT Geoff Schwartz, formerly of the Giants, to a one-year contract.

Schwartz can play both guard and tackle, but figures to step in at right tackle in Detroit if he can beat out Michael Ola. Last year's first-rounder Laken Tomlinson is locked in at left guard, while 2013 third-rounder Larry Warford mans right guard. Schwartz, 30 in July, needs to prove he can stay healthy after missing 19 starts in New York. If so, he's a very solid signing.

Thanks for the update but I didn't really like that guy. I'm more concerned about Martin and Wisniewski. ... any updates?

Steelers snubbed again

Gotta find those cheap bottom of the barrel types - you know the drill

If signed depth would be great, oh and waive goodbye to mike Adams

What he said ^^^

Maybe I should have read the thread down to the bottom, haha

Looks like Wisniewski is available, hasn't had any visits since the one with us. Nothing new on Martin either, so I take it he's still looking for a contract as well.

Yea I keep looking at all the sites and have yet to find anything. Maybe we sign both on the cheap. That would be nice for us.

Feel like you're thinking of Will Wolford?

Your right, I was confusing names, his and the coordinator wiz. Brain doesn't function like it use too due to war. Use to be a steel trap now it's just a fly trap. Lmao

Free agent C Stefen Wisniewski visited the Eagles on Thursday.

The Eagles already have one of the best centers in the league in Jason Kelce, so Wisniewski would be a reserve. It's possible the Eagles are considering Wisniewski as a guard, a position he hasn't played since 2011. Wisniewski remained one of the league's better centers for the Jaguars last season.

Wisniewski signed with the iggles

Eagles agreed to terms with C/G Stefen Wisniewski, formerly of the Jaguars, on a one-year contract.

A center for most of his career, Wisniewski is likely joining the Eagles to play left guard, a position he has not played since his rookie year in 2011

Well, at least it sounds like we were in play to sign the guy...can't say we didn't try.
