I found this to be a interesting read....

Well there ya have it. Not exactly a couple home runs there......Nick Williams and Cortez Allen
Although both are still playing and I think Williams actually plays.

Cortez out of the gates looked like there was potential there. Usually when a player flashes he seems to end up with a solid career. Ike used to tell me that if their head isn't on tight, the physical skill matter not. You really have to be head strong at corner.

I really like S Kevin Byard (Mid Tenn St) this year and hope the Steelers have him on their board, but they do prefer power 5 conference players so we probably won't see anyone from a non power 5 until day 3. Although the Steelers have shown interest in Harlan Miller so there's that.

I think you have to invest in small school and CFL scouting. These are guys you get basically for free or at most lower draft picks. What I like about Pete Carroll is that he doesn't believe in pedegree or any of that Bullshit. He puts the best football player he has at his disposal on the field regardless of where they came from. Ask yourself this question. What competetive advantage did the Steelers team of the 70s have over most if not all other NFL teams?

I'll raise you a Ricardo Colclough.

FYI, the Ravens have been near the tops in drafting small school players since 2008. And since 2008, their drafting has been dogshit. You think the Ravens are getting better this year? Nope. Their drafted talent from 2009 on has netted one pro bowler. You think our drafting is bad? The Ravens, who are mistakenly referred to as the best drafting team in the league, haven't drafted well since the early 2000s.

Their drafting is soooo bad, they're hanging their season chances on an elderly receiver. They're turning into the Redskins. They have no talent, so they're hoping for talent in FA each year. Now they're getting eaten from the inside out.

Ozzie lost his magic, and the talent riddled Ravens are here to suffer for it.

One could argue that since they were near to the top of the league (including winning a ring few years ago) that their drafts have been suffering from picking low. Ozzie really did draft well for most of his tenure. His mindset was "I will happily keep taking "doubles" instead of swinging for the fences. We seem see to do more of a "swing for the fences" approach. There is more than one way to skin a cat; either approach can work. Our approach has netted monsters like Troy Polamalu and, hopefully, Shazier, but it has also landed wet farts like J. Jones.

Ravens have not draft great since 2009 (2008 was pretty killer though) but it's not like their drafts have been Brown-like either.
