I'd much rather read players with this attitude than AB "Dancing with the Stars" and buying mansions.

(NOTE: Sadly I have to say this disclaimer, but I do. No, this doesn't mean I think Coates is better than AB,but I just like this mentality much better than those who have to be reckless and unwise. It doesn't mean he is a better player, but it does mean he will have his act together IN THIS ASPECT better than those who spend like the big money will never cease to be there.)

The guy stayed in Pgh because he could get better, and spend less money doing so. I love it. He stays in winter because all his training and a lot of his food is already paid for.

I am expecting big things from Coates this year. Bryant can go suck down bongs and end up broke for all I care. This is a business; it may be the entertainment business, but it's still a biz.

We have PLENTY of weapons to work with mostly because we got Ben tossing the rock and Much coaching the OL.

AB, Wheaton, Coates, Green and Bell give us plenty to work with.

That is, if - and only IF - Ben is tossing the rock. If not, we are a .500 team at best.

I think Sammie is going to have a break-out year. Anyone with sense realized his rookie year was going to be a redshirt year because he was behind a ton of talent and because Auburn's offense was a million miles away from an NFL offense. But he's got the physical talent and work ethic to become a good one...

I knew he had the physical talent, but I had no idea he had a good head on his shoulders. Great draft pick for where they got him. We knew MB had great physical skills too, but he apparently has a 2 cent head. Coates is actually mature and wise AND has huge skills. I am enthused to read this story.

Why is how these guys spend the the money they have earned any ones business. Whether Coates is cheap or Brown is extravagant. It's THEIR money. Spend it how you choose..doesn't affect us in any way. God that **** is annoying. The only thing we can judge about these guys is football. That's it. Rant over lol.

I agree with Andrew. I like Coates, I like Antonio. Why do you care that he bought a big mansion? How do you know Brown's not using his money to help people (I'm sure he probably is). Both guys seem like good dudes and excellent receivers. Why take a shot at one to build up the other? Just be happy we have both.

Nobody has a better work ethic than brown... Not even Ward...And he has always been a generous and good guy... That is all well documented. To knock him for buying a mansion or for being on dwts is silly .. Ward did both of those things as well... Its great if Coates turns out fabulous, and i believe he can, but lets not hold these guys to some absurd standard that is unattainable or start penciling coates in as anything but a 4th or 5th wr until he actually proves something...

2nd year WR playing behind AB and Wheaton with Ben at QB. Yeah he's gonna have a big year if he can catch the ball. Looking forward to seeing his progress.

OK, this just in: This is a sports message board. In other words, 90% of the content here is opinions, especially in the off-season, months away from the draft. Secondly, I prefer a player who is grounded over one who is distracted by non-football things. AB is slowly (quickly) drifting over to the "me, me, me, everything is about me" mentality. Which WRs in recent history had the most "me, me" mentalities in the NFL? Chad Johnson and Terrell Owens. How many rings did they have, collectively? ZERO.

Is that the end-all litmus test for a WR's full value? Of course not. It is my prerogative to prefer the one mindset over the other? You ******' right it is.

Coates will be AT LEAST the #3 WR to start. Tell me, who will be on the roster to beat him out of the #3 or #4 spot?

Some rookie? Ain't gonna happen. I find it at least 50-50 that he wins the #2 WR spot.

I find it fascinating that you feel the need to piss all over Coates' solid mindset, while I applaud it, and give him kudos.

I will take ABs work ethic over anyone else on the Steelers right now. Minus maybe Harrison.

Coates by his own admission wasn't http://www.Invalid Link - Check SN ...-admits-wasnt-properly-conditioned-last-year/

properly conditioned last year.

His head seems to be screwed on right so far, but I am one of those I want to see it on the field in a bigger body of work, to be a full believer.

If AB goes broke after he retires that is his problem, but I think clearly on the field he is full throttle.

How anyone could find fault in AB at this point is beyond me. His production is nothing short of wow.

The team will start with dhb as the #3. In all the time tomlin has been here young wrs get fewer plays until they force their way on the field...its been true for sweed, wallace, sanders, brown, wheaton, and bryant.......and was certainly true for Coates last year.

And i took no shots at Coates, just at you for taking backhanded shots at AB for useless things. 90some % of nfl players go bankrupt sooner or later, even the smart good ones... And dwts is harmless nonsense... Dozens of celebrity athletes have been on there with no ill effects...

So a guy who makes significantly less than another is going to be more frugal? No ****! Stupid topic.

Pop, shut the **** up already, go find a hobby. You are NOBODY to talk about how another grown man should spend his money. If he's doing it legally, and it isn't YOUR cash, then why the **** do you care how big a mansion he buys?? He can have all the "me, me, me" he wants if he's putting up #'s like last season. GOD your posts can be insufferable sometimes.

Coates better step up or we're screwed

Sammie Coates said conditioning was his "downfall" as a rookie.

"I wasn’t in the greatest shape I wanted to be," Coates said. "I can’t come in slow. I have to come in fast and ready to go." Coates struggled in training camp as a rookie in part due to his weight, which was as high as 227 pounds during the season.

Omar, go **** yourself. No, seriously, do it now. You have no right in telling me what my opinions should be. I am allowed to have any beliefs I choose to, and you can't do a ******* thing about it. I can express any opinion I wish. Now go get your shine box.

Ok, clown, whatever you say. Dipshit

I do remember Tomlin not being happy with Coates in camp for not having any endurance/stamina. Glad to see he is addressing it.

And how are people just now realizing Coates is a classy guy. His story with the leukemia girl was out there.

I'm optimistic on Coats. It's no surprise when a rookie lacks stamina. They play a 12 game season, not a 20 game season plus playoffs. It's a learning curve, and I'm sure he'll be fine this year.

AB's only peer is Jerry Rice. If you hate him for being on DWTS, hate Ward too. This guy is the best receiver in football period, and having him on our team makes EVERYONE better.

while I think the dancing show is worthless....if Coates has a few years like Brown has and gets PAID....he will be making major purchases and hyping his image also.....this is just a whiny ***** thread

How the H-E-L-L can you knock what AB does off the field???? What he does with HIS money ???? What life has in store for HIM ?????

AB is the dang neared PERFECT STEELERS player, other than the fact he got knocked out and missed games. His work ethic, his charitable ethics, his teammate ethics, his coachability etyhics, ect., ect., ect.. With everythiong going on in this world I can't imagine holding someone so accountable. You are right as you do have your opinion as to I HAVE MINE. Taking nothing away from a promising but YET proven Coates. I openly challenge, along with hope that he does well. He openly admitted to past lazy effort so until he translates his "new found" work for my job ethics, to the field, excuse me for not dissing AB. Even so I still wouldn't diss AB.

I would QUESTION the spending habits of the cheatriots though..............

Salute the nation

Who's pissing on Coates? I think everybody here likes Coates and wants him to continue to succeed. Yeah, you can have whatever the hell opinions you want, but when you take stupid potshots at Antonio Brown, who is our best player and has shown no reason he also doesn't have class, don't get your panties in a bunch when people call you out on it. You just look like a jealous little *****.

Oh, don't you have some Pats worship ceremony to attend?

This.

It's funny how you tell everyone it is a message board, and you can have any opinion you want. You don't mind if someone else has an opinion as well, even if they disagree with you?
It seems if anyone has a " me,me,me attitude it's you. Pat's loving attention *****.
