Antwan Blake

Man, Lebeau spent all those years getting fed **** players by Tomlin, finally gets away from the shittiiest dumbest coach in the league, then signs some of those players. Very odd.

Kinda makes you wonder if it was Tomlin or Dick who wanted the players. The way it looks, Dick picked some of those guys and still wants them.

I've argued all along that Dick wasn't napping and just taking whatever **** players Tomlin decided to give him and, probably, had quite a bit of input into the decision making, in the earlier rounds of the draft, anyway. Tomlin could, of course, override whatever Dick said, but why would he?

More to the point, why would Dick have stuck around for 8 years getting fed **** sandwiches. This tells me, more than anything, that he was fine with the players taken, for the most part.

Just went and read the article. We are getting gouged. He's not a huge loss but as I have said, we are losing alot of players but that defense was ranked 30 out of 32 and I did say it needed destroyed and rebuild. It looks like that's what they are doing.

The Steelers are losing a lot of players because they are simply "trimming the fat" off the team. The guys now are the ones who are gonna be the core group to carry forth this team for an era. It will be a special group

blake signed by someone else

Steelers best offseason move hands down lol.

In terms of any FA losses or additions, it really is. Blake leaving removes ANY temptations the coaching staff would have had to start him.

Tomlin loves the POS, tell you all you need to know about his inability to discern and develop secondary talent.

He is going to the Titans strictly for depth, he started for the Steelers all year, sad.

can we trade for him?
/Tomlin

Does he need a ride to the airport or any help packing?

Going into last season, Blake was somewhat of an intriguing prospect. The coaching staff gave him an opportunity and he failed. Sure, it sucked, but people keep clamoring about this supposed love affair that Tomlin has on the guy. He loved him so much that the steelers didn't oppose to him signing with someone else ala Emmanuel sanders. I'm pretty sure they were just gonna let the guy go, as they did. The real funny thing is, the only "interest" the steelers supposedly had in him came through the media.

Thank God the wicked witch is dead! Good riddance Blake! Addition by subtraction!

It was time for Blake to move on but I wouldn't be surprised if down the line he becomes a serviceable starter. I remember lots of people couldn't wait to run Gay out of town and he's become a good player.

Gay was never Blake bad. Blake set records for yards given up.

I wouldn't be surprised if he sucked donkey dicks if he ever is thrust into a starting role, much like he did here.

Then why did Tomlin start him every game when it was obvious Cockrell was outplaying him? And why bench him at halftime 5 games in a row? I've never seen a situation like that before so it was just odd how the coaches handled him.

Wishes do come true.

What really sucks is that they've alienated a decent corner in Boykin while attempting to placate Blake.

Infuriating.

Horseshit.

Why placate Blake? It isn't like he is Dieon Sanders running around out there. No reason to placate him.

I keep coming back to it. If you have coached you know what I am talking about. You have that kid who maybe isn't as talented but sticks his head in there and a kid who may have more talent but won't. Who are you going to play? I think it is no more complex then that. For all of Blake's faults, he was a scrapper. Perhaps in practice Boykin never showed he was willing to do that.

I think Boykin had some contributuin to that, to a smaller degree

That works fine for a game or two,.....but these guys are pro and the scraper gets set aside as soon as someone shows game capabilities. PRACTICE is to enhance game play, which is MOST important. YES I have coached and hear what you are saying, but you have a hole out there, try to fill it and NOT creat a second hole. Boykin would at least have kept the hole from being so deep and not created that proverbial 2nd hole.

from Invalid Link - Check SN Home Page:

According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, Blake reportedly received a $200,000 signing bonus from the Titans along with a base salary in 2016 of $1.3 million. Additionally, Blake stands to earn another $750,000 in playtime incentives in 2016. If I am reading the figures correctly, Blake stands to earn a max of $2.25 million in 2016.

welly welly well, I would have kept him only for vet minimun. He could earn close to what Gay got

I just think my opinion on Boykin's abilities are not as high as some others. I just think he is average, really. I don't think Boykin would have made much difference.

I guess what I don't want to happen is for them to keep trying to play with average at best CB play. If they sign Boykin, maybe they don't put as much importance on CB in the draft. Heck, I don't know how much they put on it anyway. And they have to get better. If they could just get guys how can hold coverage a tick or two longer, maybe that is enough to get some of the rush home.
