I heard he visited Jacksonville and will see Tennesee next. He's likely gone. I'm okay with that. I think Vince Williams is just as good. Better vs the run, not quite as good vs the pass.

I hope Spence gets a large deal.

The Steelers should get a few compensatory picks in 2017.

Don't Williams and Spence fill different ILB positions?

They both play ILB, and if either left the other is the next man up for both spots. IMO Williams is a bit of a poor man's Levon Kirkland. Great vs the run. Active, and he can hit.

He means that-

Williams plays more of the buck (backs up Timmon) while Spence plays more of the Mack (backing up Shazier)

Peace out Spence. Liked the guy. Vince Williams is a better player for us though

Vince hits like a truck. I love the kid and on running downs he will wreck.

Exactly. During injuries in the 2014 season, when Williams came in, Timmons moved to Mack. When Spence came in, Timmons was Buck

Nice to see him show his gratitude to the Steelers for carrying his *** through his injuries.

The ironic part was is injuries to Shazier put him on the field.

I mean that now that Spence is gone, Williams is the next man up for either spot. Spence I think was demoted out of the nickel in favor of Williams at one point

So, what, he owes the Steelers his entire career when he's likely to be paid more elsewhere, because they kept him around after a leg injury? How do we know that the team wasn't ready to see him move on?

Good luck to ya Spence, if another team is willing to offer more financial compensation and/or opportunity, then kudos to you for going out and earning it.

Minus that leg injury spense is our starter right now, but he wasnt beating out timmons or shazier and williams is a borderline starter anyhow.. Im cool with the guy getting his starts in elsewhere... He deserves it

I felt like he owed the Steelers "something". They kept him around for years without him being able to play, gave him access to their facilities and doctors, etc. Depends on the differences in the offers, really, I would think. I don't hate him or blame him for taking more money, but I would have expected him to take more time deciding and giving the Steelers a chance to make a reasonable offer. The Steelers may, very well, have not wanted to make any offer though.

Dude put in the work and I wish him well. I hope he has a long and successful career. Would rather him stay with the Steelers, though.

Wish him well and glad that he was able to salvage his career. Any word on terms?

ESPN sidebar indicates Spence has signed with Titans

The Pittsburgh Steelers have now lost another one of their unrestricted free agents as linebacker Sean Spence has signed a one-year, $2.5 million contract with the Tennessee Titans.

Couldn't be more predictable.

Good for him; we have far too many holes, and are deep at ILB, to even consider signing him. No brainer.

TN has a lot to work on.

We (no one) simply can't afford to pay a backup ILB $2.5 million a year....just to be a back up. The math doesn't work. I am glad, after all his work, that he is cashing in for at least one year. If he plays well, he will get a multi-year deal after this season.

Good luck to you too Spence.

I also feel he brings a little of the NASTYNESS needed by this "D" . He is a handful in the hitting department. Hello VINCE !!!!

We don't know what transpired internally between him and the STEELERS. I bet he left amicably and everyone is happy. In todays NFL, loyalty is a two way street and NONE is showed by either side.

I agree on the math, 2.5m for a back up just doesn't seem to fit in our cap space,

Salute the nation

I am happy for him. For all he went through it is good to see him get some money thrown his way. And went out with class....
