The Arizona Cardinals have reportedly traded former first-round pick G Jonathan Cooper and a second-round pick to the New England Patriots for DE Chandler Jones, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. The move adds a pass rusher to the Cardinals and shows their displeasure with Cooper's progress over the last three seasons.

Though inconsistent, Cooper has flashed amazing ability as a blocker. Watch him become a total force in New England.

Also, though talented, Jones has not exactly lived up to his draft status either.

The Patriots getting a 2nd for this player swap is shocking to me.

He had 12.5 sacks last year; not exactly chopped liver.

This is very "Patriotic" in the sense that they know Jones wasn't going to agree to salary they were going to offer for after this season, so might as well get some value instead of having him walk for nothing after next season.

They do this all the time, which is one reason they are a contender every freakin year.

And they get a 2nd rounder out of the deal. That is pretty potent.

And after their train wreck on the OL last year, Cooper will provide more depth that they sorely needed last year.
