Bryant skips drug test; facing full season suspension

Selfish ******* we don't need this ****.

I don't care if he smokes weed but when you put yourself before the team you have to go. He's already been given multiple chances at redeeming himself yet has now put us in a bad position two seasons in a row. Look at Tibs list there are a lot of ******* guys that want and can play football in this league why continue to waste a roster spot on someone that doesn't. Damn shame because not only is it a waste of talent but it's a waste of an opportunity.

See you later Martavis.

I'd take Andre Holmes, Mike Wallace, or Cotch back from that list. We still have Eli Rogers on the practice squad too.

Yes, Andre Holmes' name jumped out at me. Love the fact he's relatively young at 27, plus with DBH we seem to do ok with Raiders WR's.

Above and beyond that, Holmes has talent. Would be very cool to see them bring him in. He's as big as Bryant 6-4 and almost as fast (40 Low: 4.35 40 Time: 4.45 40 High: 4.56) On a side note, I went to high school with his aunt, no kidding.

Cut Jim and move on. He had his chance

Yea, Holmes would be cool and I wouldn't mind the one trick pony coming back either.

Brown, Wheaton, Coates, DHB I'm not drafting a wideout. If Wallace or someone like that wants to resurrect his career fine. Unless you draft a premium wideout you have nothing for next year anyways. I think the team knew what he was, and drafted Coates for this very reason. Gotta give them credit for that part.

Four wide *******!!!

Just doesn't have the same ring to it.

Should be legal, but c'mon it's not...so don't be a dumbass and get caught...again.

Is that the Browns I hear calling about a potential trade?

yeah they knew......

What surprises me is they haven't brought in a WR.

I know it is irrelevant, but I would say that the rule should be in effect during the season. With the first test shortly after the beginning of OTA's.

Bryant fails drug test; facing full season suspension

Bye bye ....

Interesting...

Bryant’s latest violation may have come from something other than a positive marijuana test
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/category/rumor-mill/

It was widely reported last August that the NFL suspended Steelers receiver Martavis Bryant because he failed multiple marijuana tests. His latest predicament suggests a violation for something other than a positive marijuana test.

The three possibilities are: (1) a positive test for something other than marijuana; (2) failure to cooperate with testing, treatment, evaluation or other requirements under the policy; or (3) failure to cooperate with the terms of his treatment plan.

The intermediate 10-game suspension applies only to a positive test for marijuana while in Stage Three of the substance-abuse program. So with Bryant skipping from four games to a full year, it means he allegedly violated the policy without testing positive for marijuana, again.

Bryant has appealed the suspension. If the suspension becomes official, the NFL likely will release more information about what specifically caused it.

It could have been something as simple as missing one of the many tests he now has to take while in Stage Three of the program. Or it may have been a positive test for a banned substance other than marijuana.

maybe Wallace wants to come back for vet minimum, otherwise go with what you know and look for another late round steal like AB.

It's not going to be easy to sign Andre Holmes, if they're even interested.

For Marijuana? I can't believe it is still such a heavily penalized substance.

Thing is, even if they legalize it, an organization can say they don't want their employees doing it.

It isn't illegal to **** your secretary, but ******* her on the desk at work will probably result in being fired, if caught. It is really simple. It's amazing these players can't figure it out.

I'm hoping Tyler Boyd is sitting there for them in the second round.

Who was complaing about the off season this year because AB was doing dancing with the stars and cut his hair funny? Now look what happens.

I agree, the rule sucks, but its the rule! I cant even fathom having the ability to make millions and pissing it away just cuase you like to smoke ganja. I mean, seriously, I used to love to smoke me some weed but I gave it up because I wanted to make more than $10 an hour. This is beyond stupid on multiple levels.

To go from 4 games to a whole year just shows what type of ******* moron we are working with here. Love the guy on the field. The guy off the field is dumber than a box of rocks.

Martavis Bryant planning to check into rehab
Tom Pelissero, USA TODAY Sports 4:22 p.m. EST March 12, 2016

Facing indefinite banishment for repeat violations of the NFL’s substance abuse policy, Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Martavis Bryant will check into rehab and undergo evaluation for depression issues, one of his agents, Brian Fettner, told USA TODAY Sports.

“We’re all stunned, me included,” Fettner said, shortly after broke news of the ban Saturday. “We clearly miscalculated the issue. His isn’t a party issue. It’s a coping issue and a depression issue, and he’s got to take care of it.”

Fettner had just landed in Florida and planned to discuss three clinic options with Bryant later Saturday, he said. The plan is for Bryant to enter rehab Sunday, Fettner said, though Bryant's other agent, Tom Santanello, said nothing would happen before Monday as they continue to sort through their appeals options.

Fettner confirmed Bryant is appealing the ban, though getting it overturned is seen as a long shot. It stems from multiple missed drug tests, Fettner said, while also acknowledging Bryant has a problem with marijuana.

The multiple missed tests – which count the same as failed tests – explains why Bryant faces banishment for at least one year, rather than a 10-game suspension for his latest violation after serving a four-game suspension to start last season.

“This is the biggest cry for help I’ve ever seen. And that hurts. It hurts us to see,” Fettner said. “He’s 24 years old and he’s got to get right, whatever it is.

“If you talk to anybody’s family that has depression, they will be talking about these same things – the (despondence), the withdrawal, the head-in-the-sand despair – just trying to cope.”

.One of the game’s electrifying young playmakers, Bryant has 76 catches for 1,314 yards and 14 touchdowns in 21 regular-season NFL games, plus another 19 catches for 244 yards and two TDs in three playoff games.

Further substance abuse violations, however, could keep him from seeing the field again. If the ban stands on appeal, Bryant must apply for reinstatement by the commissioner and can do so in no less than one calendar year.

“This is a long road to earn people’s trust back, but honestly, we can’t even worry about that right now,” Fettner said. “You’ve got to get him healthy.”

So he skipped drug tests that's why he went from 4 to a season long suspension.

MSN is saying he has missed repeated drug tests and is headed to rehab... it may be more than just an addiction too... sounds like the kid is awfully troubled....
