William Gay re-signed

Good ... re-signing Gay makes drafting a CB less of an emergency, must-do approach. The signing gives the Steelers more alternatives for their first round selection.

Meh, CB still priority #1 IMO. Bringing back our own guys from an already mediocre group isn't exactly improving anything.

I am glad to see Gay back. We brought back the lone bright spots in our secondary with Cockrell and Gay so props to Tombert so far. We're still a good FA signing or top draft pick short of improving the secondary though.

not if you bring back those who weren't mediocre, which Gay wasn't by a long shot.

To a degree, but if there is a worthy CB at 1-25, they still should grab one. But I am pleased they re-signed Gay, for sure.
 
What were the terms of the deal?

Completely agree. Without Gay, we got Toast Blake and a bunch of cast off and unproven players at corner. While I would not say Gay is our best defensive player, he is the one we can least afford to lose.

Blake didn't re-sign yet as far as I know. It's Gay, ****, Cortez and Golson right now. Cortez may get cut yet and Boykin and Blake are still free agents.
 
Glad he's back, but this is still a need, I hope we don't pass a CB in round 1 if one is there now. Gay is good, but when a QB has Blake and whoever else we throw out there to throw at, why throw at Gay?

Excellent news! We still need at least 1 CB, whether it's FA or high in the draft. I'd be shocked in Boykin came back, and Blake needs to go. I wouldn't mind taking a flyer on McKelvin, who was released by Buffalo. If memory serves me correct, he was a pretty good kick returner as well, wasn't he?

I don't know that the CB's that will be available at the end of round 1 will be worthy of that pick. Unless one of Hargreaves or Ramsey fall to 1-25, I'd probably go in a different direction in the first.

I used to believe this...

But I am starting to believe that WIII and Mackensie are certainly good value at 1.25 (if theyre still there)

I just read three-year deal worth $4.5 million that includes a $500,000 signing bonus. This is too good to be true. Did Golden get a better deal than Gay?
