tough to pick just one....when I was a grade schooler, it was Franco....then it was Lambert.

Shame on all of you. All these posts and not ONE mention of Cary freakin' Davis??! :stordita:

*ducks rotten tomatoes*

Hines Ward, Mean Joe, Jack Lambert, Mel Blount, Troy Polamalu, Lynn Swann, Jerome Bettis, James Harrison, Terry Bradshaw and Heath!!!

In no particular order, really hard to have just 10... Really was gonna put Dirt in the 10th spot, but gave the nod to Heath because I'm already missing him.

Perfect example of how under appreciated Gildon was he might not have been an all time great but you don't get to be the Steelers all time sack leader being a bum like the rest on that list.

I think Gildon was great. I just know how a lot of people felt about him.

Gary Anderson................

great lists but I am surprised that Mel Blount hasn't been mentioned. Mel was the best corner I have ever seen. They changed the games rules because of his dominance. think of cam chancellor and Dion sanders combined into 1.

A strong argument could me made for putting Mel on here. I definitely considered it. It's just a matter of me being too young to actually really remember watching him play.

A friend of mine Bobby Jones (played for Browns and Jets as a wide receiver) told me when asked who was the best CB in league, his response was Mel Blount hands down.
He was big, athletic and was the main reason the rules were changed to help the receivers.

Wish I couldve witnessed that era of Steelers football. I have some memories of the 95 steelers. 98-99 were dark years but when I got into the team more. Being a 5th grader trying football for the first time I remember a bit of that bad 99 season. It was nice to see the team build up in the mid 2000's. The team now looks similar. But from hearing all these stories. Mel is a top notch legend

There were some coaches and a couple high able potential DBs doing that verticle jump test where you jump as high as you can and hit the wing like sticks to mark your height. Mel, just out of locker room and in street cloths and STREET SHOES, walked up then did hi JUMP, blew them away by like 6+ inches. in streeet shoes................ yoiiikkkkkkkeeeeeeeesssssses
