....and to win a Super Bowl.

But, considering our systems and plays, if we don't achieve the following improvements, we will not win another ring.

1.) Must find a pass rush, without needing to send more than 4. Look at the teams winning rings; they all can get to the QB my sending only 4. One could argue that the single-most crucial skill
of Denver, that won a ring, was their pass rush. Yes, they also had good DBs, but that rush was the biggest factor in beating Pats and Panthers. And, traditionally, the Steelers must have
a strong pass rush to win rings. It's just a fact. I appreciate Butler tying to use a various attack, sending in safeties and the kitchen sink to get to the QB, but we need to get to the QB with our
OLBs or we won't go anywhere. Our DEs are the best pass rushing DEs we have had in a long time, but it's not enough. Face it: We need our own Von Miller or we won't sniff another ring. Jarvis
Jones is as close to worthless as you can come; he is a vast liability to our D. Moats is a nice depth player, but not worthy of a starting OLB in a 3-4. Harrison is too old at this point. Dupree
may indeed prove worthy of one OLB spot but we are clearly short at the other OLB spot. Bottom line: If we don't upgrade OLB spot, we won't win another ring, period, end of discussion.

2.) We go no where unless we upgrade DB play. The two SB teams both had secondaries that make ours look like hot garbage. We need upgrades at both S and CB. If we trot out Blake as
one of our starting CBs, we don't even need to play the season, because we have no shot at winning a ring, it is as simple as that. They at least _tried_ to upgrade our backfield in the draft
last time around, taking three picks for DBs, but two already have proven FAIL and the other got hurt for the entire season, and is short. We simply MUST upgrade the talent at DB, or
we won't contend, period, end of story.

The good news is we don't have all THAT many holes to fill, but if we don't upgrade these two areas, we won't make any noise come the post season.

Window is closing fast. Take Ben off this team, and we are a .500 at best.

I think it's time to at least add one upper shelf free agent or our shot at a ring by blow by us.

1. Jarvis Jones. Check.
2. Antwaan Blake. Check.
3. You left out back-up quarterback. Denver had a back up quarterback that beat the Pats. Work that in somehow.

Yes, we could use an upgrade at 2nd string QB, but don't forget, we did have Brad as our planned #2 QB coming into the season and he was hurt for the entire season. Would he have been much better than Vick and Jones? I think so.

Also, our backups, even without Brad, were able to post .500 results. Isn't that about what Brock did in Denver?

It is a given we need some luck on staying healthy. That does for every team. The final blow of losing the best WR in the world for last play off game, and our #2 RB (not to mention losing the best back in football) was just too much to overcome.

But had we had a legit pass rush and secondary play, we might have even overcome those losses.

Who in the hell is Brad?

We won 10 games, with Ben missing 3. If Ben plays all 16, no way we lose that first game against the Rats, or the KC game. Toughest schedule in the nfl, and we could have easily been a 12 win team. We could have Won The Superbowl this year..

The Steelers will be a real threat this upcoming season. Steelers need to stay healthy, fine tune the D. In my opinion D does not need a major overhaul. The major players on the D are coming together just fine. They do not need to go out and chase the hot name free agents with insane money. Not wild about Weddle, but if the price is right, 3 mill. or less a year. They do not need to throw insane money at ........ player. In way too many instances,. the way over paid free agents do not play to their money anyways. Plus, many are not about the team and winning Super bowls. They are just about them getting paid.1st,2nd,3rd,etc. Winning it all is not a top priority. Steelers are on the right track, a little fine tuning will do it. Keep the faith Steeler Nation, team is really close to number 7 next year.

we need to keep beachum, need to approach ben, mitchell, heyward the only highly paid guys to take pay cuts to keep Beachum at the market value likely for a OT like him 6 years 40 million 10 mill SB. Those who think they can get buy with Villinueva after a few games withen the division vs buffalo would want Beachum back right away, both OT weigh about the same, only difference is AJ is 4 inches taller but Beachum is much more agile and kicks out much faster to push the edge rusher so ben can step up or roll and effectively throw all those quick 3-5 yd drop back plays. Villinueva is still raw and at best Munchak may turn him something close to Starks but as consistent.

Foster can be replaced or retained at a reasonable price, with Evans on the market who I am sure would want to play for a contender we have a decent FA option.
Pass rush we need more of mix of 4-3, so A DL in rnd 1 like A"Shawn Robinson would really help us could play NT, DE, NG and the under DT, then rnd 2 target a CB like Eli Apple.
Then look for a pass rusher then a pure recieving TE
