Would you trade Wheaton for a 3rd round pick

Go away. I would respect your stance against the Steelers / Vick if you went away forever, but it's an absolutely pathetic display of attention-whoring to sit out a season and then pretend all is good now that Vick is off the team. The people that had absolutely no problem welcoming Vick into the Steelers family (ARII, Tomlin & Colbert) are all still here. So stop acting like a pathetic **** and beat it.

Del is a great source of insight for this site. He made his feelings known early on, was clear and concise and stood by his convictions. I'm not faulting him for being a dog lover, and I welcome him back and happy to have him around. We don't need to kick Steelers fans on this site, especially when they are being honest and open about it.

You have your opinion, and I've got mine. As I've said, I find Del's one-year "timeout" to be the epitome of attention-whoring and hypocrisy. And I have a hard time considering him a Steelers fan given that he rooted for them to lose every game this season. Beyond that, I've always found him to be a bigger fan of his own evaluations and opinions than the guys wearing black and gold on Sundays. I have a hard time forgetting that the self-proclaimed "smarter GM than Colbert" made the stupidest statement that's ever been written on this forum (his "Since the Steelers signed Vick, I'll just go root for the Eagles").

Actually Coach I don't think the Steelers did mishandle Sanders. They passed on a late 3rd rounder and got a 60 catch season out of him before finally losing him to Denver in free agency. He has certainly shown since why they tried to keep him. Potential is great but when you are going for a SB production is better.

Sanders was replaceable. A bit injury prone and a 3rd wr behind Wallace and. Brown. Disagree sanders was easily replaced by Cotchery. Taking the third round pick was the better move.

I'd suggest that this "mediocre" WR is a big reason Denver is where they are now, too.

Guys we were not going to resign Sanders. If we wanted to keep him we would have. Take this at face value. sanders for one year wasn't a difference maker. The third round pick was better and cheaper.

Who said we wanted to resign him. He is, obviously, better than people here gave him credit for. The Steelers were borderline playoff contenders with him on the team. THAT is why they kept him instead of taking a 3rd rounder. IMO, the Steelers were better that year with Sanders than they would have been with a 3rd round pick.

In any event. Lets say they had take the 3rd rounder. Wouldn't the terrible HC who can't evaluate or develop talent have just wasted that pick?
