Bryant: BR "was throwing the ball 40 yards and probably could have thrown it farther"

Manning didn't step up the in the SB that he won. They decided to run heavily that game and took him out of the equation. Excellent coaching move by Dungy.

Exactly Cope. Exactly.

Happens every year. I'm confident that our D will make THIS WEEK this years installment.

I can't trust what anyone from the organization says when it comes to injuries, especially at this time of year. I hope these guys are talking straight, but until we see what he can do on Sunday, I have my doubts. However, as long as Ben is out there on the field, you know the Steelers are going to have a chance and they will enter this game with a huge chip on their shoulder as their backs are against the wall.

As I recall, it was a torrential rainstorm through most of that game - so it was just fortune that smiled on them that forced them into a more conservative gameplan.

These guys should keep quiet about Ben's status. Next thing they'll be apologizing to the Iranians.

Denver has their top 3 safeties back, all who sat in the game we won. Sucks to be without Brown but maybe Ben will just hit the open man instead of trying to force feed AB on certain plays. As long as #7 can make all the throws (Tomlin said he did in practice) then we have a chance! O-line play will be critical, if they can keep Ben clean . . .

You do know it could all be a smokescreen, right?

I think it would be funny if all three QBs start throwing during pregame lined up side-by-side. Kind of like that great shot years ago of three Steeler running backs, side-by-side, doing that "hop drill," or whatever it's called, in unison.

Maybe mess with the Broncos a little.

True, but that seems a little too clever, and what would be the point? We get them all lathered up for a 40 yd throwing Ben, and then dazzle them with Landry?

donkeys blow donkey dicks

We win by 10

Guaranteed

I wonder if this is how felt in 1976. when they were without Franco and Rocky going into that playoff game

We had more confidence in our entire team back then, but had no running game going into that game, and we needed one. I think even Frenchy was banged up. We knew all about Oakland and I think we sort of knew what was going to happen. I think I have more hope going into this game than I did going into that game. You have to realize how much Franco meant to the team, and then to not even have Rocky - it was grim.

The o line better play out of their minds as this will be the best secondary(they are healthy this time around) Ben has faced this year.

It will come down to them giving big dummy plenty of time to unconfuse himself before he throws his trade mark stupid pick.

This is the element every sports writer and posters on this board are overlooking.

You DO REALIZE this is Denver Part II??? That secondary was torched by Ben in the first outing...

Captain Obvious says Ward and Stewart are on the field this time for the Donkeys; Brown and Williams are out for the Steelers this time, and Big Ben is injured. Completely different scenario.

We had been a running team most of '76 with Brad out. We get the Blonde Bomber back and then both backs get hurt. Our passing game never really had a chance do get much work and then we were forced to rely on it.

Or even worse ; trade weapons for hostages all while lying and claiming to never negotiate with terrorists.

You know when Rooney Sr. Said what Jimmy Harrison did was excusable but,
What Cedric Wilson did was despicable and had to go.....kinda like that. Rooney, Reagan, same difference.

You completely missed the analogy. Not exactly a shock.

I recall that game very well. Steelers destroyed the Colts the week prior, but were playing the Raiders in Oakland. I was a die-hard Steelers fan in Northern California at the time ... tough game.

The defense was extraordinary during the preceding 10 weeks, but was on the field the entire freaking game because the offense was terrible. Remember, however, that back then, no team featured 3 or 4 WR's and a quick passing game. That did not arise before Walsh and the 1980's.

My goal is to complete the posting tree by the end of the weekend.

Funny, serious, sarcastic, sincere, pissy, and whatever else I can come up.

Of course, gotta "go deep," at some point too.

I think that would be Posting for the Cycle!

DiDi Blah Blah Blah Blah is reporting for NFL network that Ben is throwing all the passes, having rested his arm/shoulder all week.

Well the good news is rusty, unpracticed, banged up Ben is better than Vick and Jones combined... the bad news is he hasn't really practiced much and injured Ben can be ignorant of his limitations

If anyone's liable to be rusty it's Peyton. He's played very little late in the season, plus had a bye.

That is the ultimate concern in that injured/limited practice Ben almost always turns the ball over 2+ times.

I want to be optimistic, given how winnable the AFC seems this season, but there just seems to be too much working against this team from a health standpoint.
