Burfict to AB: "I put you to sleep ************"

Bill Romanowski being called a dirty animal ... That's something I haven't heard since ... This afternoon ... You didn't happen to call Cook and Poni today did you?

Nope I have never called a radio talk show... I do my bitching on the web, not on the air.... buy Romo was and will always be one of the worse out of control jagoffs to ever play the game... with the spitting I see why everyone remembers him suddenly... another cheap shotting dirty ************...

Okay, but I was starting to wonder if you're really Stan Savran's alter ego.

Nope, but in my life the one talk show I tried to call but never got through was Sportsbeat when I was a kid and learned Marcus Nasland demanded a trade (he went to my church) and it wasn't public knowledge yet. Stan, Guy.... still love the show....

Judging by Johnny Norwig's body language and the pronounced scowl on his face, I don't think anything said by #55 was apologetic.
I could be wrong though.

Yeah, Norwig was not happy at all when Burfict jumped in there.I was surprised he was so aggressive.

I, for one, am an equal opportunity Bengal hater... When I look back on James Harrisons career, I will hate him for 2 years, 2003 and 2013 and love him all the rest. Being Asian, Caucasian, or Arabian wouldn't change how I feel about Burfict one iota...nor do I care where or how he grew up.. a lot of these guys started in bad places... you don't see them acting that ******.... If he were a steeler, it honestly might change my opinion a bit though... its always worse when the animal's action directly results you... its easier to ignore when he is on your team.... Hated Ruutu, Kasparitis and Cooke when they weren't Penguins.. tolerated them when they were...

and for the record, the dirtiest player on the Steelers team this year is probably Cody Wallace and I think he is white. He scraps well outside the realm of acceptability too often... as we will hear a ton this week, I'm sure...

Yeah, but I would sign him (Wallace) to a 5 year deal. The man plays with heart and he's been solid for the most part. He fights for his teammates when needed. See Denver a few weeks ago.

Side note on dirty linemen: Richie Incognito made the Pro Bowl.

James Harrison is my favorite Steeler of all time. Not the best, not the most prolific, just my favorite. If he played for Cincy I'd call him dirty. If Burfict played for us, we'd make excuses for him.

Maybe I have my homer glasses on but it seems to me that it was more a matter that the rules changed around Deebo and the way he and most defenders were tackling was made illegal.

Yes you're a ******* homer.

Post liked anyway :pirate:

That is more or less the truth.... they changed the interpretation of the rules midseason, Harrison, as with most safeties and linebackers, cut off the middle of the field by using hard brutal hits to discourage players from going there... Helmet to Hemet incidental contact wasn't discouraged so it was taught for decades... its why wrapping up went out of style... it just wasn't taught as the best tactic anymore... Harrison did change his game... but he was the first penalized for several different hits because he was the poster boy for accepted borderline devastating hits. Just like Ward hits are now illegal, and Blounts, and Dick "night train" Lanes... the big difference with burfict is these are all known to be illegal and he still does them... I'm pretty sure we never saw Porter or Harrison, both madmen on the field, twist an ankle or nutsack anyone

I don't recall Harrison twisting ankles after tackles or driving knees into opponents and all the other after the whistle crap Birthdefect does. To me, that's the difference. And I don't see most of us here as ones that would make excuses for a guy if and when he started costing the Steelers games. When guys do that all within the rules, we practically foam at the mouth.

Most of burficts hits would have been great 20 years ago... some still wouldn't have been... and 22 personal fouls in 37 college appearances isn't exactly a strong selling point for the guy ever reforming... I don't Know, I wanted to spend a 7th on him, but I see why we didnt

Exactly.

And Cody has done a ton of dumb **** that HAS cost us. I don't hear any hew and cry to get rid of him.

Because Cody is a back up. And there was talk of upgrading that position in the offseason.

I'm sorry. You're right. This is some Alternate Universe America that wasn't built on slavery and segregation.

Nope. Never happened.

This is Swedish America. Everybody loves everybody here. Just don't mind that man behind the curtain.

Not every time that a white person is critical of a minority person is it racism. A minority person can be an idiot and it doesn't have anything to do with their race. As my late grandfather used to say (he was a very progressive man for his day), "******** come in all colors".

**** Burfict with a rusty screwdriver. Hope his suspension goes to 5

In the interest of accuracy, according to Dr Maroon:
"Dr. Joseph Maroon ‏@DrJosephMaroon Jan 12
To set the record straight I've never addressed Saturday night's game or Burfict's actions to the media, let alone Twitter. Complete hearsay

That is on his twitter account, i looked only to see why major sports networks were not highlighting it.

Cody Wallace has hurt some drives, no doubt. But I don't recall ever laying a loss solely at his feet.

Yes we pointed this out before, but the rumor that he said something to the affect of... "I put him to sleep... I'm going to put all of you to sleep too..." was out almost immediately after the game... and not one person has denied it.... no one confirms it, but even the doc's response on twitter is more or less "I didn't say anything to anyone about that", just like the second spitter... its hinted at, but I think they all are under a "shut up and let it go order" more will come out in time.... you don't get a 3 game suspension for one bad hit even if you are a reoccurring offender who has only been fined... you have to have multiple issues to get to 3... so I am guessing the NFL believes the ben hit was intentional kneeing, the spitting on Decastro was him, or maybe this as well... if not all of the above...

The how matters, Ron. The how matters. Criticism is one thing, dehumanization is quite another. You're a grown man born before 1980. You know good and gawd damn well that referencing Black people as animals is the wrong answer.

Stop pretending the entire history of America never happened.

I think it's perfectly okay to call a dirty football player an animal regardless of their race. If anybody doesn't like it, that's their problem.
If it's okay to call Ritchie Incognito an animal but not Vontaze Burfict, then that's racist.

**** that... dude is an animal plain and simple... and that's probably an offense to animals everywhere...its a term used for uncivilized actions.... its not racist unless meant as an affront to the man's heritage, and this is obviously in regards to his playing style and nothing more... This country's past abused a lot of people... Africans, Asians, Natives, The Irish... all were sold as slaves here, all were treated as ****. one demographic doesn't get to monopolize on the idiotic past we had whenever they feel offended...

You keep saying that and it's idiotic.

Nobody has said anything about the history of America. It does not apply to anyone's thoughts or statements or this conversation.

It's what intelligent people would call a red herring in your argument.

Vanguard was originally replying to Pop's statement regarding Burfict's heritage/mother/place he grew up, etc.

He comes from pure, straight up garbage; his mom was a gang member in South Central LA. He watched his friend get stabbed 13 times on his front porch. He has always been an animal, in a bad way. I guess I have to view Cinci as a team who has no problem with dirty POS.

Personally, I don't believe that Pop meant it in a racist manner. However, I can see where some would take offense to the idea that where he grew up (a predominantly black area of LA) makes him an animal. Or that having seen (not watched) a friend get stabbed on his porch as a child/teen makes him an animal. If he had participated in the stabbing ... yes. Being there when the person was stabbed and not having direct involvement ... not really.

Well that saved me an awful lot of typing.

The "animal" reference was specifically aimed at Burflict's background. And yes, I take issue with that.

But y'all carry on. This is the last time I'll get into it. People keep messaging me that this board is hella racist and not to bother, so I won't.

If I had to describe someone on the football field going off like that, I'd just call them a loose cannon -- Burfict and the like would certainly qualify.
