Why is no one talking about that "bum" Blake???

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes. You know, deez nuts. :chuncky:

Got 'em!!!

I mean he did get an interception on Saturday night...:poop:

Blake has decent hands and will grab a bad pass as good as most.

But the QB he was against was having a bad night and the rain likely slowed down the Cincy WR's I'm not sure how much Butler cheated a safety his way for help. Or if the Bengals were simply too stupid to target him!

Blake had a good game, but was helped by the QB and conditions. It MAY be a confidence booster but we will see. Mannings arm is weak so it may help, but he will be much more accurate. I believe it will be clear, little wind and 40 degrees in denver so weather should not be much of a factor.

If memory serves me correctly. He blew his coverage on that play and but for a horrible pass. Yeah. Then again on the Green TD where they went up by one, I think he was in green as well. While the safety coverage was bad too I think it was Blake again. Could be mistaken.

Blake shines in blitz and more zone. He can't do **** of man on man.

I think that play was big play Willie gay who was on green. Both he and Mitchell seemed to have brain farts on that play.

He didn't blow coverage the Steelers were in cover 2. He didn't have a underneath responsibility so he trailed Greene. The next time they ran it it towards Gay but this time they leaked a back underneath to Gay's side which put him in a quandary and his bump on Green was sub-par cause he was worried about the back.

We need to play man and drop zone coverage. Even though Blake can't tackle and gets burned deep, this is our best bet against any team that is going to throw on us.

I should have known the game was going to have a strange ending after Blake got a pick, Jar Jar caused a fumble and Cam Thomas recovered a fumble. It's like a vortex of the bizarre opened up.

Blake has had some good moments in a few other games as well. But do those few good moments make up for pitiful tackling and coverage most of the time? I kind of seriously doubt that.

I used to defend him, earlier in the season, but after seeing him look the fool more often than not, I can no longer defend his play. We are the 3rd worse passing D in the entire NFL and he is part of that unit.

If history tells us anything, it's that the 3rd worse passing D won't be able to win a ring.

2011 giants - 25th ranked defense
2009 saints - 20th
2006 colts - 23rd

While the pass defense or if you will overall yrd/game are not good ranking speaking, TDs we are in the top ten

I am in concurrence with the idea that Blake should be tried at safety. Cover corner he is not, but ball hawking safety he may be.

It's too late in the season to make that move, but next year if we haven't gone FS in round one or two, perhaps consider it.

Why? His tackling is awful. Blake would not last at safety. Bad idea.

The other part of the post is better. Draft a safety. Rounds 2-3 might have the best value.

His tackling is bad, but he plays well with the ball in front of him and if you haven't noticed guys like Mitchell do the same Hit-hard-don't-wrap-up style he does... His hips suck in the backpedal... he plays ok in zone, but he does allow a lot of completions still....

in any case, had shazier not slammed that first fumble out, there would be a lot of talk about him coming inside on that long play and giving the runner the sideline free. A lame duck pick doesn't really make up for all the crap coverage and tackling he has given us

Can you find any #s where a team won it all with a pass D near the bottom of the league?

If you are referring to the last Bungles TD, yes it was Gay and Mitchell. Note: Green false started on that play and no flag was thrown. Hill also taunts Gay after the play and no flag was throw.

I cant think of horrid pass d winning since the league liberalized the pass rules over the last decade and a half... a lot off middle of the pack ones... some like the last ravens team to win it were bad enough on both sides of the D that they ended up average or just below average overall in pass and rush D... some of the New England early 00 teams too... but there was more there than just overcoming a bad D.

Gay moved when green false started then missed his bump or route or something... it was a screwed up play through and through

I was pleased with Blake's good fortune on the day. In fact irony reared his ugly head with vigor. The VERY moment I was turning to my Bronco-friend and lamenting the fact that Blake was on the field in coverage and bitching no less about the huge cushions the scheme was giving up - THAT was the int.

He had quite the fun with me after THAT!

Then when the later interference call was made, quite rightly - he pointed out "But that wasn't Blake..." And then when Green got his TD he said again - Now HOW bad is this Blake guy? I could only shake my head in annoyance.

Those teams I posted had terrible defenses overall. The colts that year were Horrible. But, come playoffs they put it together. If your so hung up on our def being too low to win, why continue to watch and post if your outcome is already determined? If someone finds something will you feel better? Did anyone at the 6 seed ever win the SB before. No not until WE ******* did!!!! And we're going to do it again.

We could give up 500 pass yards a game but if we keep them out of the end zone anything is possible.

I knew some SB winners didn't have outstanding Ds, but I didn't think any past winners had pass D as bad as ours. We are near the basement, just two teams are worse. Pats have had some Ds that give up yards, but were still good at not letting teams score many points.
