Steelers vs. Bengals - Part III (Wild Card Weekend)

Penalties
Pitt 10 - 142
Cincy 8 - 79

Bengal fans will cry but prior to that last dumb sequence, bengals only had 49 yards in penalties. Steelers had nearly 100 more in penalties prior to that.

Esiason seemed genuinely emotional calling out the Bengals.

Meanwhile on NFL Network, Deion spends 20 minutes defending Burfict. **** YOU too Deion!

Funny that Marvin might have won that game if he benched Burfict and put a backup in.

Not sure how anyone could say he wasn't targeting ABs head there. Everyone on CBS saw it that way and that doesn't happen very often. Hell even Boomer said it was disgraceful and he's the biggest Bungle homer there is.

I still can't believe what I saw.

Gonna go back and read the last 20 pages so can relive it again.

Amazing victory!

Cincy ******* can die in a fire.

Hey, Redass, what say you about Ben now! **** the Bungholes! Karma is a *****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I say sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. I say we have to play the rest of the playoffs with a quarterback that is going to be limited because his shoulder on his throwing arm is hurt because he got himself hurt on a play that never should have happened. I say if that stupid play doesn't happen, the rest of the game plays out completely different and our best player would more than likely be playing next week because the desparation play that got him knocked out wouldn't have been necessary. Just because they pulled this game out doesn't make that play any less stupid.

In normal play, I think those hits to the head happen a lot with no intention on the part of the defender. Speed at which these guys play is incredible. Lots of BS penalties called on those plays when the head contact is way more incidental.

If it were a player other than Burfict, I'd have more faith that it wasn't intentional. Considering who it was, I think it was completely intentional.

Regardless, for a penalty, it doesn't matter whether it was purposeful or not. For suspension and or fines, that will matter. A lot.

First off, Burfict and Jones did indeed lose their minds on the last play. I think the players' problem with Jones' 15 is that good 'ol Joey Porter came in and seemed to push someone from behind... so Jones went after him and bumped the ref in the back. I believe the players were hoping for offsetting PF's, but of course what can you do, Jones was the second guy in and you simply *cannot* do that. I mean, the refs allowed Pittsburgh to dirty, prod, taunt, and take Burfict down after the play all game, so what do you think is going to happen, you want to start counting on them making calls?

Now, to speak directly about the refs - they were terrible in this game, absolutely, positively, terrible. Two guys have serious concussions because they refused to control the game properly when Pittsburgh was head hunting and at the same time dirtying Burfict all game to get him to lose his mind. Well, it worked, and now Pittsburgh probably doesn't have Brown for the next game and maybe longer.

I wondered how the league would go about leaning the game in Pittsburgh's favour, and apparently it was to put the whistles away on the run game of PIttsburgh (Michael Johnson was amazing in this game, too bad nobody will know it because he was being held like a *****), and to allow them to dirty people. Nice job NFL, I hope the players who got hurt sue you into oblivion. The sad thing is that despite all that, the Bengals should have won this game *easily*. The defense came to play today and aside from two big plays they were pretty much lights-out. Unfortunately the first half game plan for the offense was garbage at best. Once again Marvin squeezes the O-line to do something they're not suited to, and that's straight-up smash-mouth running up the gut. Hue has no clue and does nothing to help McCarron until the second half when the turning point came - the refs didn't call the head hunting play against Shazier and apparently realized they better start making a few. Wow, suddenly there's a smorgasbord of penalties to choose from? Yeah, that's because Pittsburgh just kept playing the same game.

Anyway, I'm still not that fussed about the loss, I'm most pissed off that the media is going to have an absolute field day pillorying Burfict, Jones and the Bengals in general for months and months to come. Did they earn it? Yeah, but that's no consolation.

What I want t know is how long did the Bengals go w/o a penalty from before the first half until the final 30 seconds? I'm thinking the entire time. Are we supposed to believe that was coincidental? **** the NFL!
