If Blake is the starter today, I'm gonna lose my mind. He graded out as having maybe the worst year a corner has ever had. How do you leave him in there. His potential replacement literally can't do any worse.

I think you mean that Cockrell should be playing over Blake. Boykin has been getting the majority of the snaps for the past month.

Yes. Gay, Cockrell and Boykin nickel with Blake only coming in on dime and special teams.

You KNOW number 41 will be lining up first series. And you KNOW he will get played. Lol

If we do this **** against the Pats, we will get EXPOSED!!!

Blake will be thy downfall if the Steelers lose

Against the Pats? You have us all the way to the AFCC game just like that? As if it's a given we will beat Cinci and win in Denver?

Glad you aren't running things or playing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blake may be the down fall if they win. Hope that is not the case. An interception or two would go a long way to eraseing memories around here.

Salute the nation

We know Blake will start as Tomlin looks at the world through tiny, can't cover, can't tackle sunglasses.

The real question is if he can get the timely pick to compensate for what he gives up, which is a lot.

question, if Blake gets 2-3 picks this postseason do you resign or cut him?

If Blake is out there and ends up being a big factor in a loss, Tomlin and Butler will be criticized rather staunchly in coming days and deservedly so.

Blake is going to be out there at least early, at the expense of Cockrell. I'd be shocked otherwise.

They're committed to playing Blake, despite benching him at halftime each of the past three games.

In reading about this issue there seems to be some problems with Boykin in run support and tackling. That's why he's not the starter. Yes, he's better in pass protection, but he's also apparently a less well rounded player in the system. Missing a tackle for a TD is just as bad as getting burned in pass pro for a TD, so Tomlin's not totally out of line here.

Having said that, I think Boykin exposes the team LESS than Blake does and for that reason he should start.

Missed tackles have not been a problem for Boykin. They've been a MAJOR problem for Blake. And again, it comes down to Blake vs. Cockrell. Boykin has been playing a majority of the snaps when they have three CBs on the field.

That's cause Tomlin won't give up on his guys. I do commend him for that. As a coach I know how hard it is sometimes with the mistakes and the boo birds but some players have to learn in the fire.

Boykin is the real deal. I have some coaching buddies out in Philly who were pissed when we aquired him. Then he never played and I'm far too busy and have enough on my own plate to actually go to upmc and watch to see why. I do have a pass to get in just as every h.s head coach does. However I kept asking them wtf.... they were like idk man.... then he finally broke into the lineup. He is the real deal. Wonder if he had a hard time learning our scheme or that great Tomlin 2 I love so much.

Boykin rated as one of the best cover corners and best tacklers in the league last year. Outside man corner schemes are typically one of the easiest positions to pick up... the zone stuff may take a bit longer, but not significantly longer... Blake set records for yards given up and missed tackles... the only thing I can tell you is Boykin isn't a hitter... he plays tight coverage and makes plays on the ball... he wraps up, not wrecks into... I think its a very stupid philosophical issue as to his lack of playing time

Blake has more missed tackles than anyone in the league breh

Thank him, then let him get on with his life's work.

So what are your options with Boykin? Can we place a transition tag on him? Something that would give us the right to match any deal he signs, or get compensation? Obviously not worth franchise tag, so what are our options?

The 2015 transition tag for Corners was 11M and some change. It's probably going to go up 10-20 percent this year so it would be extremely expensive to do so.
