Merry Christmas guys.

Ive been following this team since 1997. We all remember the kordell and Tomczak days.....we had a good team but we all knew only if we had a QB.....watching Ben against the Ravens when Maddox got hurt filled me with joy. We lost that game, Ben threw 2 picks but you just knew we had our QB. He had 2 TD and over 200 yds passing.

We know better than anyone what Ben means to this team. Without him were nothing. I truly believe when he hangs it up he will be the best QB the Steelers have ever had.

IF....emphasising IF...we win the Super Bowl and if we do win its because Ben had a great game....im afraid Ben will be passed over again for AB....dont get me wrong....AB is great....love the guy but we all know without Ben this team has no chance. Watching the media and the love fest is well deserved but Ben still doesn't get the credit hes owed. You would think AB took the snap, threw the ball, ran a route and destroyed the CB and made a spectacular TD catch......I will go ahead and say it AB is nothing without Ben.

I bet you if we do make it and win it all and AB has close to 100 yds Ben will be passed over again and not get the MVP thats deserving......just like that POS Holmes who won it but we all know the single biggest reason we won that game was because of Ben.

I guess in a way if we win it all it doesn't matter...some might say....but it does matter. Ben screwed up in his early years....wrong times...wrong place with wrong people but thanks to Cowher and others who gave him advice and he turned it around. Now he's married with 2 kids, he has never cheated, always been respectful to his opponents in victory and in defeat yet he never ever fully gets any respect. Its sickening and I hope this fuels bens fire and destroys every team in his path and takes that 3rd to Compton.

If Ben throws for 400 yards and 3 TDs in the SB he will get it. Let's pray that happens.

Aren't you way ahead of yourself here? We aren't even in the playoffs yet to be worrying about if Ben gets the mvp or whatever.

AB wasn't too spectacular while Ben was out for 4 games...

Just sayin'

Somebody's got to throw the ball.

Steelers need to go into Baltimore and kick the **** out of the Ravens. leave nothing on the field and just destroy them.

Anything less and this team will have question marks.

Honestly depending on your age, I can't hold your memories of Kordell Stewart and Mike Tomczak against you -- though I can assure you that the Cliff Stoudt, Mark Malone and Bubby Brister days can make you long for the days of Tommy Maddox -- who had a LOT of talent but is a perfect example of how much the game is mental. It was obvious Maddox had self esteem and confidence issues -- in particular what it took to be an NFL QB.

But your concern is not a concern in the least because ultimately nobody will ever care who wins a Super Bowl MVP. If Ben is the QB behind 3 rings he's automatically a NFL legend the rest of his life -- he'd already be one if they won Super Bowl 45.

But like everyone else says -- the team isn't even in the playoffs yet, they simply control their own destiny as far as getting in. And if they do advance -- unlike 2005 and 2008 and to an extent 2010 -- this one would be entirely on the offense without an epic defense. So Ben will automatically get his due credit with or without a meaningless one game trophy.

I never really cared about MVP, OPOY, DPOY, etc. The vast majority of NFL fans can easily tell you who played in and won the past three Super Bowls. Ask them who won the aforementioned honors and they're likely guessing.

That goes into effect when we actually clinch the playoff spot, right?

Kinda kills every Steeler Fan's right to sing "I got a feeling.....Pittsburgh's going to the Superbowl!!"

I don't believe in superstition.

Ah and don't forget Scotty Campbell, Todd Blackledge and Steve Bono during the scab era. There were a couple other scrubs as well. Can't remember them all.

Not sure Cowher was here when Ben had the majority of his problems. So I guess you can either blame Tomlin for causing them or credit him for fixing them.

Dare I say: "Kent Graham"?
There I said it, now I'll be sick for the rest of the day.

Taz really, that's what you're worried about ? Reading your comment, I thought you were talkin' about 1st ballot HOF or something.

SB MVP....really ? I'll be happy with the expected one and done, it's a lot better than I thought we would do this year and FSF is right, the SB MVP gets a cookie and a handshake then vanishes.

Agree that it's too early to talk about. But hypothetically if we do win, I'll be so overjoyed that we got that Lombardi, they could give MVP to Jacoby Jones and I wouldn't give a flying ****

That would be so ironic, jacoby with a super bowl ring..................cause thats what's unfolding before our eyes, says the soothsayer...........

Salute the nation

We all remember the Kordell days lol....Kordell was actually a good QB, put up decent numbers, who made two AFC Championship games. Do you know how many teams would die for that? I understand you just started watching the Steelers in the 90's but you fans have no idea how good you had it with Kordell, Neil ODonnell, Maddox, etc. The Brister, Malone, Stoudt, era was god awful. I mean awful. I use to get so pissed off when people on this board would jump Ben's ****, and how we need to trade him, he cant read a defense, he cant do this, cant do that....there were even some morons that doubted he was a franchise QB.

When Ben leaves this team you will see how piss poor the QB play is in this league because unless we catch fire in the bottle again, chances are pretty good we'll have a ****** QB. Appreciate what we have...we will only have this about 4 to 5 more years if were lucky.

I'd be surprised if Jacoby is on the post season roster.

This site needs to ban the term "Super Bowl" until the week of it like the good old days... entirely too far ahead of ourselves with this one.... not only are we in the superbowl... we are crowning AB MVP?

It's a discussion board, right? I have no problem with this type of talk, it gets me excited about what could come.

Im not worried but the media sucks. The guy f***ed up, owned up to it. Changed for the better yet they never give him the credit.

There are some out there who would really rank cam newton ahead of ben...that's ridiculous.

Im 32 so year Kordell was the qb for the majority of my early steelers fandom....he was decent but we all know he couldnt carry a team.

Kent graham...god what a statue...

Maddox played Damon well for a short period. ....we had the hottest offense second only to the raiders when he was qb.
