Now THAT was good coaching. Tomlin and Co. earned their money tonight

I have never really bought into the adjustments thing, positively or negatively. In other words, I don't rip coaches for not making adjustments or praise them for making them. How do we know for sure that it wasn't just the players playing better?

It was a combination of both IMO. Coaches look at thier weaknesses and where they're attacking, who's winning 1 on 1 batttles, etc. I Think Haley abandoning the run helped too. There's always a original plan that the team prepares for during the week, when things start hitting the fan its on them to change it up. Rather its Blocking schemes, coverage schemes, etc.

I dont even think that Rex Ryan would do that. Mad swag is what the kids would say.....i think.

Here's the thing: the game wasn't over but he KNEW he had the win. He could see the demoralized look on the Broncos, and he knew WE BROKE THEM.

The Steelers are real contenders. Not fakers just getting over on great receiving talent, as has been opined by analysts. And we're healthy, for the first time in a LONG time. Did you see that Shazier pick? We're DANGEROUS on D now.

Overlook us at your peril AFC. Overlook us at your peril.

Iam not a fan of Tomlin but I give him thumbs up, if he read the riot act at the defense. Second half was total dominance even if Nance did not think so. Great come back, great win, congrats to the Steeler players.

Well in the first half we were playing zone defense almost the whole half....In the second half we manned up most of the way. We either made that adjustment or our game plan was to play zone in the 1st half and man in the 2nd half. What do you think it was?

It was like watching two different games from the 1st half to the 2nd. This is what makes the season so interesting, peaking at the right time. We've beat 3 first place teams in the last three weeks. Understand this team is hot right now!!!! Go Steelers. Two to go!!!!

I told a guy at the sports shack during the game that we did a good job of using the run just to keep the pass rush honest. D'Angelo pressed the tackles, forcing those ends to stay in their lanes and not fly wide coming after Ben. That's shrewd coaching, period. There's nothing else to call it.

What game did you watch? We ran like 5 times and threw over 55 times.

They obviously played a great second half but I'd be more impressed if they could show up prepared especially at home . This team shows up unprepared more often than not

Remember the Titans....Remember the Steelers!

I don't know what was said at half time but it reminded me of "Remember the Titans". An O that's was scorching us in the first half was totally shut down in the second half. Let's hope they play that style of D the rest of the year. If so, the sky is the limit.

Who are the Titans?

**** Nance. Thats why his *** is up in the booth and not making the decisions. He is a paid spectator

Just a horrible game plan in my opinion. For some reason we have been playing zone coverage with big cushions against every young QB we have played. Why not press and have tight coverage and make that young guy make a tough accurate throw. We all have seen enough of the career games QB's seem to put up against us. Our zone defense sucks. Period.

The best thing about this win is the Steelers didn't blink. Adversity doesn't create character, it exposes it.

It's HOW we ran that was important. And it showed. Ben had a nice clean pocket for most of the second half.

That was just or OL blocking better with Williams and Heath helping out. Denver wasn't even looking for the run. Rewatch the game.

I am not sure what changed on offense, but you could see the changes in defense. We went from passive zone to in your face man. The blitzes got home and Denver gave us some timely drops. Also Boykin played more, but I refuse to give the coaches credit for that because he should have been in there long long long long ago. As for the offense I just think the Oline stepped it up and obviously Brown came up huge. I would like to know whos call it was to switch up the D...

I think Cowher's. :)

Well, Tomlin said in post-game they didn't change much, the players played better.

Look, I could care less which it was,y hey won. It is just my opinion that the adjustments thing is a bit overrated.

Whole team showed a lot of guts.. The offense for hanging in and the defense didn't panic.. But mostly I the thought the whole team coaches too, showed a lot of steeler pride. To a man they decided at half time to gut it out as fans of the steelers we've seen a lot other steeler teams do that very thing... That's what makes us steelers... Awesome win here we go steelers!!!!!

well, see, if the Steelers had continued playing the way they did in the second half as they did in the first half, TAS would have a point.
I agree we came out and **** the bed in the first half, but as pointed out, someone, somewhere made some adjustments and tightened up the game plan. It could have been Mitchell. Or Haley. Or Mann. Maybe Rooney called down from the booth and demanded **** change. But we all know one damn thing.

Tomlin didn't do ****.

aint no way. no how, no way.

except maybe he did.

“We didn’t change much, to be honest with you,” said Tomlin. “We just executed it better. Maybe a third down call, or two, or wrinkle, but we just played markedly better in the second half from a detail standpoint. That allowed us to win those possession downs and get off the field and obviously our offense did what they do.”

Tomlin was quickly pressed to talk more about the second half play of his defense and even still he refused to say that unit’s success was a result of any scheme adjustments.

“We stopped kicking our own butt probably is the No. 1 adjustment,” said Tomlin. “So much of that was things that were self-inflicted wounds. Things that we were doing to ourselves we settled down and that had a lot to do with it.”

Being real, how much of that is Tomlin being gracious and giving his players all the run in the press?

Did you watch the game? Seriously. We had no one near the WR's in the first half. There guys were wide open in our zone coverage's. Second half we manned up. We were all over the WR's. I could care less also but to think there wasn't an adjustment is silly to me.

Well, coaches rarely talk about specific adjustments made and for good reason, as it can provide a template for future opponents.

They were obviously more aggressive in the secondary in the half. Even to a casual fan, it was obvious they changed what they doing.

It was the same dumb *** huge cushions on long yardage we've deployed for fifteen years in the first half. In the second they took Blake's sorry *** off the field and played press. Anyone who didn't notce that big an adjustment either got pissy drunk watching the first half debacle, or they need some effing glasses. Two completely different plans and the players executed it.
