Yeah, yeah, quit swinging from his nuts In Ben We Trust...lol. But seriously, I watched the slow mo on that hit Bennett laid on Ben last Sunday and for him to continue playing (even for 9 plays) was just amazing. Most QB's are out multiple weeks from that...guaranteed. There are better QB's than Ben but my goodness is he tough. His desire to compete and win games for the Steelers and their fans is something that has to be appreciated, even by his detractors. In my opinion, he is the only current QB that could survive the QB rules of the past where anything short of decapitation was legal. He is a true throwback era QB who can also light up the modern game and is a perfect QB for the city of Pittsburgh.
 
Honestly, watching this season, I'm not sure who is better than him. Some may say Brady but we'll see how he does with most of his WR's injured. Some may still say Rogers but he has been pretty bad for about 5 games or so now. If there is truly someone better in the NFL right now, I'm not seeing it. I hope he can play a few more years at this level because when he retires, who knows how long it will be before we have another true franchise QB and a HOF'er.
 
In all seriousness though, when he's healthy I don't think even Br*dy is playing better than Ben right now. Ben just can't keep off his *** and out of the "nurses" office.
 
I'd like to see what he and the Steelers could have done with a better coach throughout the prime of his career, but yeah, Roethlisberger has made every Steelers season since he was drafted interesting, largely by himself.
 
But he is a game manager and holds the ball too long, right? As a fellow Miami alum, I have been following Ben for many years, so I have a built-in bias. If it wasn't for all the off the field crap years ago, he would be one of the faces of the NFL.

The only problem I've ever had with Ben is his tendency to go bombs away when it isn't necessary. Other than that he is one of the best in the game.
 
This is the year I appreciate Ben's talent I think more than any other. His accuracy for the most part has been uncanny. Remember all those high throws he has had over the last 5 years,they seem to have disappeared. The amount of throws that have been just perfect yet dropped or opposing CB making a play on in unreal. In the Seattle game in the first half he could have had another 100 yards easy.
Yes he has a few bone headed plays,but we watch every down,scruntinize every play,if we did that for every other qb in the league we would see they are sure as **** far from perfect.
Of course,I think quietly our line has become one of the best in the league,amazing year considering the injuries. Have you seen mr. Perfect sir tom running around making mistakes cause his uniform is actually getting dirty,same with Aaron Rodgers. I think welcome to Big Bens first 10 years. Remember games when Peyton Manning would not get frigging touched all game? Like to see him perform the way Ben did half his career with the line we had. I think Haley deserves a little bit of the credit as well,Ben does not mind the dump off,getting rid of the ball quickly any more.


Now this is not to say I haven't sworn my head off at Ben or thrown my remote at the tv in utter frustration. But I will take our guy over all the others any day.
 
Ben has been throwing darts all year, i do get frustrated that a lot of his throws deep throws to Martavius have been short instead of him letting bryant just use his speed and go get the ball. I think that has lost us a few games this year. But also the receivers have utterly let Ben down with their drops on some of Ben's deep dimes as well. I do feel like Ben's prime years are being wasted a bit because of some of the boneheaded calls or non-calls coach T has done that has prevented this team from even making it to the playoffs in years past. Tomlin poor coaching does cost us at least 2-3 games in the win column every year. But In Ben I do trust that he will do his part to get this team into the round of 12.

Ben's always suffered from short balls (I'm not a doctor but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night). When Wallace was taking the top off D's it was the same......very, very rare that he overthrows a deep one. Not sure if it's judgment, vision, or 50/50 receiver/Ben, or what but it's kinda historic....just like occasionally holding the ball too long and his disdain for throwing one away now and then.

BUT.........

......before anyone flames me, I LOVE BR as our QB. No other QB in the league has taken the beating(s) he has and continued to produce like him. In the clutch he usually comes through. And he can thread the needle with the best. He reads defenses extremely well and is a team guy....always gives props to the O line and his receivers, etc. I really, really hope he can get another ring or two before he retires.
