9-7 is the safer bet, but 8-8 could take one of the spots. And one of the wild card teams could face
a team with a losing record (AFC South Division Leader) in first round. Pretty down year in AFC and
win over Oakland gives Steelers a big advantage with a tiebreaker over one of the few teams still
in it.

Yep. That win helped a lot even with our poor afc record. It will be a week to week thing apparently.

If the Jets win tomorrow night against the Bills, which I think they will, I essentially see it being a three team race for two spots: Jets, Steelers and Raiders. Jets most likely wins I see: Bills this week, Texans, Dolphins, Titans. That gets them to 9. They should take at least 1 of their remaining four: Giants, Cowboys, Pats, Bills. That puts them at 10 wins.

Raiders have a tough task this week against the Vikes. But look out if they manage a W there because their next three are Lions, Titans, Chiefs...three very, very winnable games, especially with that offense. They then have two tough tasks back to back with the Broncos and Packers before closing out with division rivals Chargers and Chiefs. I would not be surprised to see them at 9 wins when all is said and done.

That win against the Raiders is huge, of course, supposing that the Steelers can patch together at least 9 wins. One problem point could be the Chiefs. If they manage to throw their hat into the ring, which isn't all that crazy considering they still have 5 division games left and also have the Ravens and Browns. They own the tiebreaker against the Steelers and that's a problem. So root for the Broncos this week and the Chargers down the road.

We have at least four more losses - Denver, Cincinnati, Seattle, and one of the remaining cellar dwellers on the schedule who always seems to bite us - most likely Baltimore at Baltimore or maybe the Colts. That puts us at 8 - 8, which won't be good enough for a Wild Card. All of our remaining games but one are against AFC opponents, so losses will make our AFC record worse. Who knows, if we beat Seattle maybe we should be awarded the NFC West since we would have swept the division.

Seattle kinda sucks and Denver hasn't really played anyone good this year. We can win both of those plus we still have to play the Browns twice.

mmmmm I dunno if I'd say that Seattle "kinda sucks"...they're "off" right now, but I'd not be surprised to see them give us a good whippin' in Seattle; Steelers seem to have issues getting up for their post-bye games the last couple of years, and you BETTER be up when you're playing in that stadium.

The NFL really needs to reduce the number of divisions it has - neither team deserves to be there.

Seattle is up and down, but still a dangerous team especially for us going out there. Denver has played the vikings and the undefeated packers at the time. Their defense had been playing lights out, but struggled last week. Manning is struggling so this game will come down to how well our offense can move the ball.

You best not write of the brownies, they too are a little up and down. Unless, like my friend "Joe Bradshaw" said...." you best not mess with my samich, or i'll smack your ***, then beat the hell outa you" . Point being, both the seachicken and brownies could beat us, but we will see to it that they don't.

Doubt they'll ever do that, unless they eventually do add a stupid London team. I still think they should reseed these ****** division winners and take home field playoff games off of them if one or both wild card teams have better records.

we will march

and come out with a split of those four games

marching into the playoffs

Four losses you say? So you think we lose again to the Bengals who barely beat us with our QB playing the worst game he's played in years? You also think that Baltimore will sweep us this year? I know "opinions" and all that, but damn this place is pretty faithless...

Do you guys just remember what you want, or just make it up as you go? We are 6-2 after the bye under Tomlin.

My mistake, I guess that was all other games I was thinking of, where coach numbnuts had this team coming out of the tunnel listless and unfocused

And yes, exusaf said 4 losses. So what? Does that hurt your feelings?

Hurt my feelings? No not at all, just trying to figure out why people have so little faith in this team. And why so much hate for a man, that while not perfect, is hardly as bad as people like you make him out to be. It's like we were the Browns or the Jaguars consistently finishing at the bottom of the league. And then you make **** up, "we usually come out flat after the bye" which is complete horseshit, or constantly losing to bottom feeders, and then have people throw out the Baltimore game like Vick had a ton of time to prepare for it anyway. Last I checked we blew out a bottom feeder when we had a healthy team, we lose in overtime by a fg to a DIVISION rival minus our starting QB and number #2 WR ALL because our kicker shanked TWO kicks in the final three minutes of the game...

I know the next thing to be brought up is the KC game, even tho it was LANDRY JONES first NFL start and most on the board here didn't even want him on the roster at the beginning of the year, let alone starting a game. But we'll just put everything bad that happens at Tomlins feet, and anything good that happens, well...that's just in spite of him. You guys keep your doom and gloom, four more losses, and made up stats. lol hurt my feelings...

10-6 STEELERS make the playoffs, then turn the table upside down as they face the cheatriots in AFCCg. Knock o'l t*mmy b*y out in the first quarter. SB champions Who the **** disagrees???

Clearly by the length of this reply, your feelings have been hurt. Your jimmies, rustled. Meh, whatever. I've seen too much evidence from the last 5 seasons to conclude anything other than Tomlin being overrrated, a poor in-game coach, a coach who has presided over teams that have continually come out flat against the dregs of the league. And for what its worth, I HAVE mentioned, in the few instances that I thought he deserved it, that the coach deserved credit for this or that. Doesnt mean I dont think anyone could do his job better, does it?

Clearly, you must be of this new generation that gets offended easily by everything...I can assure you, my feelings are not harmed by a post on the internet. I'm sorry that I was specific and used actual facts in a post instead of just ranting and raving for no good reason. I didn't mean to offend you by not being offended by your statements.

Insaniti, settle down. Its just a game, after all

It will be 9-7 or 10-6. The 9-7 team if that happens will be the team with the best AFC conference record.

It should be pretty obvious that they make it up. How many times has someone here said that we always start the season slowly under Tomlin? It's said all the time, even though Tomlin's first 5 teams (2007-2011) all were 6-2 after 8 games and the 2012 team was 6-3 after 9 games.
