Isiah Pead coming in to tryout for RB

I think I would have preferred say Ball..... a little starting experience.....

But I guess we will sit back and see, if he even sees a hat.

If Archer does not get some carries now then I will join the dump Archer crowd. I have nothing against Archer, but if he cant be a backup RB or the team wont let him be a backup RB then why have him. His kick returns are nothing special and they dont use him in the passing game either so either use him or replace him. Does not make sense...

Hell, bring in Rice too.

This team needs some good ole fashioned controversy.

we have no draft picks to offer anyone. We wasted our late round picks on a kicker no longer on the team and Boykin who they refuse to let play. No choice but to pick from the scrap heap. Pead might be alright. Either he or Todman should be the back up and Dri should never see the field again, not even for kickoffs.

The signing of Pead vs guys like Moreno, Tate and several other veterant RBs can mean only one thing and that is how close the Steelers are to the salary cap due to all the damn injuries.

Moreno would make the most sense to sign but he probably wants too much money.

Actually I think it has more to do with who played football most recently. Pead was cut THIS year, and Jeff Fisher said he just got caught up in the numbers game. Tate hasn't played since we cut him, Moreno hasn't played for nearly two years. Thomas wasn't in anyone's training camps and is 30 yrs old (we already have one of those), Ball averaged a whopping 2 ypc during the preseason. Pead actually played in some regular season games this year, he was cut when Gurley was healthy enough to start.

Actually I think Pead is replacing Todmann who is moving up to #2. And neither is any closer to being Bell than the backup QB's are to being Ben.

I don't know that in-season free agents would turn down the NFL minimum in hopes of eventually getting something more.

well, that's just unacceptable to the SN Armchair GMs

How's Pead catching out of the backfield? I'd say that Deangelo's biggest weakness.

Moreno has a knee.

Every time I hear his name (Knowshon), I envision that he got his name from the night he was conceived. His mother repeating, no Shawn, no Shawn, no Shawn. They later got hitched & hence the name. LOL (from my dirty, dirty mind).

Pead is sized like Willie Parker, is fast, explosive, and can catch. He is not a great pass blocker though. Use him like the Pats use Dion Lewis. Todman can backup Williams. Archer can be cut cause he blows....

Archer is not going to be cut.
may as well accept it.

Can Pead return kicks? If he, Todman and Wheaton can return kicks, there is no reason to keep Archer. Cut him and find someone else to fill his spot. Maybe a defensive player.

That's how he tore his ACL in 2014, returning a kick

Joseph Randle is available.. any takers?

I've made my jokes about Archer and while I REALLY wonder why he is on the team, if you think about it, his lack of playing time really makes sense.

As a running back, who are you going to take out to play Archer (prior to Bell's injury). You gonna replace Bell with Archer for a play here or there? Or you gonna replace DeAngelo with Archer? He is stuck behind two really good RBs so his playing time (or lack thereof) makes sense. As a WR, who are you going to take out to play Archer? Are you going to put him in the lineup instead of Brown, Bryant, Wheaton? I say hell no. Maybe ahead of DHB from time to time -- I'm OK with that. On punt returns, do you want him back there instead of Antonio? That leaves kick returns. First off, the # return chances has decreased tremendously in recent the years. I expected WAY more production from him that what he is doing in his limited tries, but he is average. Not bad, just average.

Given the players in front of him, we probably won't know what we in Dri Archer have because his touches are limited by the talent he is playing behind.

Wait a minute. Is this thread about Archer or Pead?

So who is #3 now, Pead or Archer?

I think Boswell is above Archer on the RB depth chart at this point. If Archer couldn't play when Bell and Bryant were out, there's no hope.

I envision some lady being all like..look at Shawn, look at him, they gonna know Shawn! And then something clicked
