Dan Wilkins reporting that Vick will miss this week with a hamstring strain.

Gear up Landry (that is if Ben can't go ;)

So not to put a damper on the thread but who might the back-up be? If Ben is not activated and the dog killer being sidelined, who is the back-up?

How sweet it would be if Jones comes out smokin' and plays a great game. That would solidify our back-up QB spot and maybe let Vick go.

Backup, schmackup ... go Wildcat when needed.

Done!!

It would be a shame that even if Vick were healthy, that Landry would be relegated to the bench after his performance yesterday. Neon Deion said that with all respect to Vick, that was probably the last time that Vick would ever see the field in any capacity as a player.

I'm not sure why they'd report that Vick is a no-go already. At least TRY to make the chefs prepare for 2 QBs...

CBS is reporting that Ben plans to practice, and hopes to play, this week.

AB @ QB in the event Jones goes down. We still have Wheaton, Bryant, Miller, HB, and Bell, Coates if needed

I'm kind of curious what Landry would do with a full game at QB. While I do hope Ben is back for the game, if he decides he isn't ready then I'm ok with Landry at QB.. but Ben needs to be back for Bengals game and I'd prefer he have a game before we play them to work the rust off.

They're pretty much going to have to bring in someone, as I cannot see them going into the game with a non-QB emergency QB, which I believe is Antonio Brown, as the number two.

If isn't ready they either bring someone in or promote Tyler Murphy

Too bad Josh Johnson isn't available. We could have been team number 8 that signed him since 2014.

I suppose Ben would dress this week regardless. If Vick is out, the team can at least plan to give Ben a pocket with max protect, on the off chance he has to relieve Jones.

I think after Vicks poor performance and repetitive hamstring problems, the coaching staff, as well as the owners should and will think of a long term solution to Bens future and the teams future at the quarterback position. I think theey should put some focus at the center position as well. Our offensive line, even though it is a huge (I feel at least 75% better than last year) improvement needs to give our receivers more time to get open. Even though Brown was open on quite a few occasions, neither Vic, or Landry had the time to stay in the Pocket to capitalize on his Godly talent. Defensively, I see a lot of progress, secondary will need more time, but I have faith. Peace Steeler brothers!

I agree, Landry went in with the team ahead, and our defense just killing. can he go 4 quarters without falling apart with all the pressures that go along with a hot rod team like the Steelers? I don't want to discredit his performance in any way, but if he starts against KC and we get beat by another bottom of the barrel team again, like we did with the ravens???? it will be another stressful season for the best fans in the sport.

How about throw Big Ben in for a couple plays, if hes up to it and completely confuse them with anyone capable of calling the plays and executing them? HISTORY!

LOL....Nice first post. Welcome to SteelerNation.

I honestly don't know what to make of it. Our long term plans at QB position now that Vickis hurt? Well he was going to be one and done here anyways.

CHECK

Ben's future? He just signed a long term extension.

CHECK

Our Center position? Pouncey isn't going anywhere soon with his contract.

CHECK

The rest well ......with 2/3rds of our OL down we might just have issues there the rest of the year.

I was all for them to just throw some dirt on his knee and tape it up real tight the week he hurt it and throw him back in. They would not of expected that and I'm sure they would of been confused for a series or two... Results just might of been a few easy TD's. So we at least agree there....I think.

is vick was even considered I would have to move to the "hater MT" side of things. That would be the stupidest decision ever. A blind person could tell the offense looked better with jones.

yeah, but what if he was wearing really cool Ray Bans?

I would start Jones and hope he plays like Ben Jr. again and dress Ben just in case he gets hurt. The Chiefs are 1-5 so we can probably beat them without Ben. Let him heal 100% and be ready for Cincy.

I'm fine with Jones starting only because Vick has been ineffective for about 90 percent of his snaps. Jones needs to continue to make the safe pass and protect the football, nothing crazy. My concern is that the Chiefs have guys who can get after the QB and we all know what Jones looks like when he doesn't have a clean pocket.
