Somebody please explain the two point attempt

I don't think you are giving Tomlin enough credit. Clearly, you do not understand quantum multiverse theory he was using to make that decision.

But, yea, still it was dumb.

i.e ....the "gut" theory....lol

Well, and this is just me, but if you go up by 4, that means a FG doesn't tie, and there isn't OT. They need to score a TD to win. I don't know about you, but I'd take that chance every time the way our defense was playing. I don't know if I would ever, the rest of the season, kick the extra point, unless it was on the last play to win the game.

I HATE conservative playcalling, Hell, I'd go for it a lot more on 4th down than teams currently do too.

Joe

The use of the clock before half and the two point attempt were total embarrassments. The team was barely moving the football. Now you are going to play hero. Had either of those costed them the game it would have been inexcusable. They won so move on and pray they somehow learn. No problem going for two if it looks like you might score 30. Today? C'mon.

I am all for the 2 point conversion. Nearly anytime and anywhere, but there are certain scoring differences that you do not take the risk.

But there is now considerably more risk in the 1 point conversion. It's not a gimme any longer.

At the time, it was reasonable to think that scoring opportunities would be few and far between. Going for 2 might have been trying to maximize points when you could get them.

It was a head scratcher. Not to mention that Jones was lucky to have even been on the field, but asking him to complete a 2 pt play, the odds was not in their favor. I hate the decision, but it didn't bite us, so I'm moving on.

With Ben, I am fine with it, but Ben wasn't playing. There were too many negative scenarios to come out of missing the two than there were positive outcomes of making it.

I understand, and normally I'd be with you, just not in this situation. With Ben as the QB, I'd go for 2 every freaking time. With Vick, maybe 50/50. With Jones, who hadn't had reps with the first team this week, who just came in on an injury to Vick, I do not take that risk when the XP with Boz is a much higher percentage than a Scobee kick. Here's your ratios, Ben is 60-70%, Vick is 45%, Jones I'd have below 40% the risk of kicking a 90% kick. Those odds don't work for me. Now moving forward, I'd be more confident in Jones going for 2 when he has a week to practice it.

you know **** this...would I have gone for two at that point with my 3rd string guy...Nope....but am I going to bash the coach that just beat a team that had been scoring tons of points and held them to 13.....with my 3rd string qb out there for the 2nd half....again nope....

you know **** this...it was a bad call..do I care that some mod thinks the fact that we won moots the point? No. It wasn't just a bad call, it was a completely retarded call.

and do I care that some whiny ******* want to complain about one call in a game that ended up not meaning ****...nope.......**** enjoy the ******* win for the rest of the day and nitpick tomorrow.....

F'k that...I will enjoy this win at for a couple of days at a minimum. :)

And we will forever be blessed with these stupid cunts as long as the faithful take this attitude.

a win is a win is a win. AZ pretty much dominated us the whole game, but we still got the W, in rather convincing fashion. That in alone is enough to be giddy. For all intents and purposes, we were supposed to get hammered today and didn't. Not to mention, we did it with Landry freakin' Jones in the second half. It's a great day to be a Steeler fan!

get back to me next week when we pull another retard move. sad..just sad..

watch game tape from every game and tell me the coach makes the perfect call every ******* time....you ******* just have a stick up your dicks over tomlin and want to act like he is marvin lewis or some punk *** loser like him.....

A terrible call by a coach who has little rhyme or reason for making critical decisions. When he goes with his gut he is usually wrong, below the line so to speak.

so were you against going for it at the end of the game last weeK

I'm enjoying the win as much as anybody, but the win isn't the topic of the thread. As far as that subject is concerned, the decision was simply inexplicable. You have a confident kicker who has already nailed 47- and 48-yard field goals right down the middle. There's no reason whatsoever to risk a 3-point lead in that circumstance.

Terrible play call last week but we got lucky Bell made a great play before his knee touched or Tomlin would have been grilled for having a timeout left where he could have run two plays instead of one.

And yet ... we're 2-1 in the games Ben has missed this season. You can call it luck if you want. I'll take it ... and gladly.

No qualms there, if you TOLD me we would go to San Diego and then beat the Cards with Vick I would have bet the house against that sweep.

It just doesn't change the facts. Tomlin is a liability every ******* Sunday

They dominated the first half not the second. At least watch the game
