On the Lsu fake field goal the holder had his knee on the ground when he threw the pass. How is that legal?

Rule 4 Article 1 Section 3 b

The ball remains alive when an offensive player has simulated a kick or at the snap is in position to kick the ball held for a place kick by a teammate. The ball may be kicked, passed, or advanced by rule.

There is an exception to the rule...otherwise, no kick would be allowed either because the holder would be considered down at the "spot".

How would it not be legal? If that were the case, wouldnt every fg attempt ever made, then be considered bogus because the holder's knee is down?

I didn't know that's why I asked. I figured for a normal kick it would be legal but any action other than that I wasn't sure.

Lol yep, well within the rules. Now of course, if he picks his knee up off the ground and then goes back down, then yeah, definitely down
