The home stadium clock started early and made sure the clock ran out on that play, but Dammit, at the snap, NO ONE was on the left side of the field. He could have taken the snap and sprinted to the left pylon. No one would have reached him. Thank God he got in!

Alex Flanagan tweeted that she interviewed Vick and he said Ben called the play!

CORRECTION!! Ben called the 72 yard TD play NOT the direct snap to end the game!

4-8-PIT 36 (2:59) 2-J.Lambo 54 yard field goal is GOOD, Center-47-M.Windt, Holder-5-M.Scifres.
PIT 17 SD 20 Plays: 12 Possession: 4:46
Pittsburgh Steelers at 02:56
2-J.Lambo kicks 65 yards from SD 35 to end zone, Touchback.
1-10-PIT 20(2:38) (Shotgun) 26-L.Bell left guard to PIT 27 for 7 yards (27-J.Wilson).

I don't get ESPN but can someone explain the time gap here

That is a good question. It would have been a real hard pill to swallow if he was stopped. How could a play like that take 5 seconds?

They kept the clock running.. refs made no corrections.

Much like at the end of the first half when there was 12 seconds on the clock, Rivers threw a pass to Woodhead and he caught it and went out of bounds and somehow no time ran off the clock, refs also ignored it.

(0:14 - 2nd) Timeout #3 by SD at 00:14.
2nd and 1 at PIT 40
(0:14 - 2nd) (Shotgun) P.Rivers pass short left to D.Woodhead ran ob at PIT 42 for -2 yards (J.Harrison)
3rd and 3 at PIT 42
(0:12 - 2nd) (Shotgun) P.Rivers pass incomplete short left to D.Woodhead

You could see Ben talking to Bell and Vic on sidelines before play. Was gutsy , I feel Tomlin showed he had no confidence in Vic if we kicked the field goal to go to overtime. No way running the play in the five seconds would not have ran out. Bell did a great job at continuing the play.

If he didn't have confidence in him he doesn't let him throw it to Heath. We were already in FG range.

The timekeeping in the game was horrendous - ridiculously awful. "Protect the shield"? Yeah, right.

Did anyone catch Gruden say at the end of the game that was the ballsiest he's ever seen Tomlin close a game? Well I guess we know now it wasnt really him.

Ben called the pass to Markus not the Bell run, Chas

I DO think that going for the win instead of a FG for a tie was the right call. Rivers was getting on a roll and our D was getting worn out so I didn't like our chances in OT.

Ok that must have been what that was about then. I was trying to listen and work at the same time, but just remember being stopped in my tracks at Gruden's remarks and thinking damn, he's right.

The final TD was a gutsy call but if it hadn't worked this board would still be smoking.
