Seriously....How can you be happy with Vick's performance? Maybe it's just me.....

AB dropped one in the end zone he normally catches....Vick did....okay.

he took a few sacks, but he also ran for some good yards when there was nothing

Wow. One guy in the thread makes a salient point amidst a bunch of whiny bitching.

If the supposed "all-world, best receiver on the planet" manages to catch a 36-yard touchdown pass that the purportedly "awful" Mike Vick dropped right into his hands from almost 50 yards away, the Steelers win this game, and none of Tomlin's ridiculous choices at the end even come into play. And Vick's stat line reads 18-22 for 142 with 2TDs and 0 INTS. With a 6.5 yards per attempt number.

All I heard about all week was how Vick was an inaccurate turnover machine, who couldn't get the ball to Antonio Brown and should be cut from the team. Well, he didn't turn the ball over, he completed 73% of his passes, and he put the team in position to win...despite the fact that Brown let him down on the biggest play of the first half.

What the **** would you crybabies be bitching about if Brown had simply done his job on that play?

Problem Imus not Vick. I blame Scooby, Tomlin and Haley. In that order.

It's exactly "why" I stayed away last night - sometimes the incessant complaining is unbearable - the piling on a BACK UP QB, who is LIGHT YEARS ahead of Landry is simply pathetic. AB should be apologizing to Mike Vick all week---hell, DHB made spectacular catches last night...

I thought Vick would get Heath Miller more involved, and he relied a bit too heavily on Bell in the short passing game, but he spread the ball around decently. Bottom line is, when you are an elite player like Brown, you have to make that play for your backup quarterback. No, Vick is not Ben, and opportunities were going to be limited...that's why dropping a pass like that was so integral in this loss.

A quick review on Vick.

Hitting short passes is easy. Passing for just 124 years is easy. But the true mark of a QB is converting on third down.

Vick was just 2 for 13 on 3rd down. Terrible. The man has poor overall accuracy and almost no touch on the short to medium stuff. If Vick is throwing a low arching fast ball, then he appears to be more accurate.

Our big play ability with Brown was gone. Brown had but 42 yards, and he's open as often as any receiver. Miller wasn't used....but he is often open over the middle which is where interceptions happen if your not accurate.

Vick had a fine ground game going for him.

I'd give Vick a C-, but will say that dumb coaching calls sunk the team. I still say start Vick. We would have given up at least to turnovers with Landry Jones at quarterback.

Agree, although I don't know why your autocorrect wants Don Imus.
For two days of practice with the starting offense I thought Vick did an acceptable job.

Hitting short passes...easy....124 yards in the nfl vs a hated rival, simple. Losing a game by inept FG kicker, comes with the territory. Coach starting a new thread on a whim,"just because", PRICELESS

For everything else, theres Visa.

Vick is looking for brown to be wide open... like I said when we signed him... vicks passing would negate Brown's strengths... on the plus side he will have Bryant active next week if he is allowed to throw downfield... that fits his game well... the big fast guy who can highpoint the ball..

Vick is very inaccurate on the short throws. His best throws appear to be much farther down field with some air under the ball. Short range, he misses badly.

Trouble is the game plan seems to be to keep his throws short. He can't hit his targets. Could Landry be any worse on the 10 yard throws?

He is a backup QB. He did enough to win. Had they won he would have needed one of the next three to do his job and keep the team at 500. The coaches ****** it. Period.

Yeah Landry ******* Jones would of done much better. Did you watch pre-season at all?

Yes. I think Jones has a better feel for the short and medium passing game than Vick, who has very little.

The Steelers need that or they'll be hard-pressed to win even one game while BR is out.

I have a hard time putting so much blame on Vick for this game, only because he had like, 2 days to prepare to start after coming in as relief for Ben on Sunday. It's not like they were playing against a team that knows nothing about the Steelers offense -- it was the Ravens, who have been a tough out for the Steelers for years under Harbaugh, and even before under Billick. There's a reason that this is the best going rivalry in the NFL right now.

Vick clearly has limitations, but it was Haley's job to call plays to Vick's strengths and that really didn't happen.

That's a coffee-spitter.

It's not about being 'happy' with Vick's performance, it's being satisfied he didn't force things to make the loss to the Ravens even worse. He mostly managed the game on a short week of preparation - something that any backup QB coming off the bench 4 days before would be expected to do.

I didn't know Vick was the kicker. Dang he sucked.

Exactly...im perplexed at how this loss revolves around Vick in any manner...Vick did his job..he managed the game well. He executed some nice called runs to keep the chains moving...he didn't turn the ball over. He did what the coaches asked....Scobee didn't do what the coaches asked...he had one job...ONE JOB. He failed at his ONE job.....

Bottom line is that in today's NFL, if you're passing for 140 yards at 5 yards a clip, you got a problem.

Two days of practice with 1's.
IIRC, AB dropped a TD pass.
IIRC, our dynamic WR's and RB either had a hard time "getting open" in the second half - resulting in two sacks on Vick - back to back (oh, I suggest you look at the sack on 3rd down - a BLANTANT face mask was missed and that would have kept the drive alive).

How many people complain about T*m Br*dy's dink and doink system??? The difference between 5 YPA and 8 YPA is not that vast...

Vick may have had two days to prepare but he is a QB with experience, he will never beat anyone in the pocket. When you as a QB can't pick up the third and shorts and fourth and short you take some blame.

They got a little TOO conservative I think (with Vick)....those bubble screens don't work..don't even work with Ben.....that was a nice throw to Brown in the end zone....and the one caught by DHB. His long ball is nice...

Was nice to see Coats contribute after Wheaton went down.

Olineman got blown up that 4th down play...blocking was atrocious, so you cant put all that on Vick
