A few thoughts on this...

1. I fail to see how this wasn't just a normal tackle in a contact sport and I didn't see malicious intent to injure someone. They were trying to keep him from getting a first down, aren't you supposed to hit them as hard as you can?

2. Based on the interview, Steve Smith is mad because Mike said "How you like that"? I find it hard to believe Steve hasn't said and done much worse while playing and needs to learn to take it if he can dish it. I can only imagine some of the things players have said to each other during this rivalry and that's what Steve takes offense to?

3. With that said, Mike Mitchell needs to shut the hell up on the field and just play the game. Nothing irks me more than watching him prance around the field like he did something awesome after he puts a hit on a WR after catching a pass for a first down.

4. Isn't having a "hit list" one of things the NFL frowned upon after the whole Saints situation? Maybe Steve will be getting a letter from the league, but most likely it'll be swept under the rug as usual.

You said it perfectly sir.. Couldn't agree more with all 4 thoughts

Smith is a winey "PUNK". He has no class, expects special treatment, way past his prime, a thug on a thug team. Stevie, football is a contact sport, because you aren't tough enough you put out "hit lists). ????? Maybe roger and you should talk........

Mike Mitchell is no Ryan Clark. BUT Hit list? Somebody's been watching way too many reruns of the Godfather!

I forget which Steelers defensive player it was, but earlier in the game Smith grabbed his jersey after the play and was talking ****. Karma can be a *****, Steve.

My $$ will be on Mitchell. Steve Smith SR is a punk and jaw jacker with the best of them. Remember when he was holding the jersey of the Steeler defender after the play was over. Just staring at the defender (can't remember who) and grabbing his jersey. The dude was all like, "WTF this is uncomfortable". Smith should have got a 15 yard unsportsmanlike call for that ****.

He's a punk!

Antwon *****. I mean, Blake.
our defense is a collective bunch of *******.

anyone think Ike would have allowed a WR to grab his jersey like that?
Woodson? Lake? Troy? Clark?

wrong guy....it was Timmons that speared him in the back.

Steve Smith Sr should never cry about anything, look at the plays he gets up and gets in a players face or grabs and holds on to a player. He is a bad dude that the league should be fining him for his actions after a play. Anger management while in NC was a joke.

Maybe the rest year off from the NFL for having a hit list should serve him well wouldn't you think? I think Sean Payton would agree.

No doubt. Maybe even suspend the coach if the team doesn't suspend the player!

I loved it. He just got tackeled hard by Timmons and he jumped up and got in his face like he always does if anyone even touches him.

A play or so later Timmons knocks him out of the game. Who lied and told that dude he was a bad azz?

How he has not got his teeth knocked out yet is beyond me.

I saw him grabbing Blake's jersey and I was yelling for Blake to grab his and not let go for his life. When he tries to pull away to get back to the huddle I still wouldn't let go.

Mel Blount, Donnie Shell, would have loved that punk.

And why do announcers and talking heads fawn over this jerk off? Oh his passion. And his heart. And his toughness. He is a Child with little man syndrome who obviously has never got his head kicked in before.

I still to this day am baffled on why he jumps up and has a attitude when someone tackles him hard, and why he never ever ever gets called for tounting. Isn't that one of the main reasons for the rule? He does it after every play he gets tackled.

It worked for him for years against a bunch of pansies in the Nfc south but he got what he was looking for last nite.

That guy is the definition of the word punk.

Used to like SS. Now I just think he's just a little pussyboy.

but, see, the coach has no idea that this is legit or even happening.
happens all the time.

I love Steve Smith Sr.. If he was on our squad people would be lining up to service him. His sound bites are great. Deep down we want the players on other teams to hate each other, but he's pretty much the only one verbalizing this. I mean, its great when he refers to the Bengals corners as Trash, Trash, Fuckboy....that's funny as hell.

No. That's low-rent. We prefer our players to have some dignity.

Who, now......The Supreme Court has enough on their plate already.

SS, you ain't Hines Ward......but you could learn a lot from him. Smile, get up and next play loosen someone's grill........

It is being reported that the MM hit broke 4 of his ribs.
