I'm not going to rant in this thread I'm only going to state what should be obvious to everyone. This was one of the worst coached games in recent Steeler history that I can recollect and that's saying something in light of who the coach has been the past nine years. We should have closed this game out three times but ridiculous decisions on two 3'rd and 5 possessions and another poor decision to go for it on 4'th and 2 with less than 1-1/2 minutes is just plain poor decision making three times. Even though Scobee missed two FG's into the wind you have to try and give him that last shot to win it rather than go for it on 4'th and 2. And I'll keep saying again and again, we need a ******* NT on this team. Justin Forsett gauges them for 150 plus yards. Are you kidding me. And their receivers are all mud hens when 36 year old Steve Smith is their top threat and he was even out most of the 4'th quarter.

This should further indicate to all that so goes Ben Rothlisberger so goes the Pittsburgh Steelers. Tomlin would never last anywhere without a franchise QB and impatient owners. He hit a homerun having both Ben and Rooney. I'm totally disgusted with what I saw transpire tonight in a game that should have been won by the Steelers.

On a lesser note Vick didn't lose the game he also didn't do enough to retain a win. And their was a decent amount of WRs open throughout the night.......

I'm enraged. Probably wont sleep for a few hours.

Vick is certainly not the answer now is he? Tomlin has failed miserably to draft a young QB that could have been developing under Ben and been ready for situations like tonight. No, we go to the scrap heap after an old over rated QB and lose to a bad Ravens team with poor coaching decisions.

Vick is the least of the team's worries tonight. There is a fundamental problem when you can have a game won so many times and find so many ways to blow it over and over

Hence the lesser note comment. All the other reasons for the loss was covered in numerous threads.

But also barely passing over 100 yards won't win a lot of games.... let us be real here.......

At least the coaches stepped up when the franchise QB couldn't play.

oh, wait.....

I have no problem with posters ranting tonight...

some things need corrected quickly...

Vick is the #2 qb he most certainly pulled his weight tonight.

Its called poor coaching decisions. But no, all the Tomlin apologists around here will fight to end for this poor excuse of a coach. He and Haley blew the game tonight with poor decisions and bad play calling on third down on two possessions and the stupid decision to go for it on 4'th and 2. March Scobee out there and give him a chance to win the game on 4'th and 2 for Christ sake. That's what he's paid to do. If he misses then cut his *** tomorrow morning.

I suspect that Tomlin believed that his team gets 5 downs.

I will say that the defense is going to be pretty good later this year. Dupree was abusing the Ravens right tackle, who then held Dupree all night without one ******* flag. I liked the D.

somewhat

he did make late throws and cost opportunities

listen don't get me wrong he is down on the list

Coaching/Kicker/Run D take a front seat

but Vick threw for what a buck 11?

and I saw a decent amount of open WRs mixed it with late throws.

A play here a play there maybe they wouldn't need to rely on the kicker.

I am comfy saying overall this was a team loss, leaning heavy on coaching and the kicker

but there was other lesser factors

Brown dropped a TD and he probably should have got his feet down on that sideline no catch.....and 9 outta 10 he catches that last Vick duck.

just a lesser factor.

Landry Jones knows the entire offense, has been in it longer. Why are we drawing up plays in the dirt with Vick?

I wouldn't have taken the ball in OT. I'd have kicked it. I would have felt better stopping them then my offense scoring there. I'd have kicked them down and made them March.

Tomlin's a ******* idiot. That's all I can say, really. I'm not even pissed at Josh Blowbee, I place the entire blame at Tomlin's feet. And I don't want to hear any of his circular talking, bullshit phony baloney coach speak that he trots out every week in trying to explain away this game. He better man up and flat out say that he screwed the pooch and ****** this team hard tonight. God damn it, I can't believe how stupid that whole thing was.

I actually have not been this pissed off for a long long time. Just got in taking the dog for a walk after the game, had to chill out.
There were do many incredibley stupid decisions tonight I don't even know where to start. But this game, with our schedule will come back to bite us in the ***. I was screaming for him to kick the FG,it had to be the play,I mean how can you predict the missed 2 kicks. But by not kicking,he had better cut our current and find another. I mean does he really have a choice?

The Chargers are going to absolutely murder this team

Cutting Scobee gives him a scapegoat.

Sad but true. What he and Haley need to do however is look at the numbers and explain why they've been comfortable with a kicker who's been so inconsistent since he got here. It's easy to blame the kicker but the fact is, the coaches KNOW that Scobee has struggled since game 1 and they continue to trot him out there and shank attempts. You'd think they would have figured out by now that he's not an answer but a problem.

Well, now they can use him as a diversion while they cover up for this goat-****.

a foot of breeze and he makes both kicks.

instead he goes to Canuckistan.

oh well.

Horribly coached game... Seems like Tomlin degressing. Really poor clock management... Poor play calling... Poor decision making. He was never great but it is getting bad. That really was a must win that we had won and he let it get away from us. Young team like ours needs to be able to depend on the coaches but man our coaching is sucking.

Guys- this has been happening for a long time. Awful game management and decision making from "the gut". The number of inconsistent and insane choices lost this game for us. Period. Don't let him off the hook and blame guys like Scobee (who hasn't been reliable since joining) or Vick (our backup QB). Bottom line: I really hope this is the straw that broke the camel's back. Mike needs to look in the mirror and start learning from this crap. Not looking forward and feeling comfortable with his lack of process. This literally may have cost us a whole season and it's because no one has been calling out for this for years. For a veteran coach to be making these errors in such an important game is unacceptable. It's the one big and glaring thing missing from his coaching and we've been talking about it for years. And it's learnable or something that could be outsourced. But man, he let down his players, coaches and fans tonight. Hard to sleep after that one.

I agree with you number 34. That of course was the great Andy Russell's number and who should also be in the HOF. Tomlin is just not held accountable. He's been here nine years and if he's going to make decisions and coach off the cuff like this, I ain't buying it anymore. I'm close to done until they come to their senses an move on from this guy.
