Guess who's defense is ranked 6th in Pts allowed ?

I thought from the beginning that if the D could be in the top 50% that would be good enough to get to the SB with this offense. Of course with Ben out I'm not so sure.

I agree Ron, I felt if we could improve to mid pack or slightly better, we have as good of shot as anyone. including the FlUCKING cheaters. Even with BEN out, If the "D" keeps improving little by little, we hold a little bit, Vick gets 19-24 points, we get a couple wins, BEN is back and WhoAlllLLaaaa, we make the playoffs. TEHN the "D" will ride, Who Ride,........WE.....RIDE !!!!!!

But, but, I thought our "efense" doesn't deserve a "D"???

Wake Up Berm, this is the 2015s, time to reconize acheivement, when you see it. WE are all FIRST place winners..........SHESzzzz

dare I say Mike Mitchell is not playing all that bad??

FlUCK no, if you dare do anything, you'll be known as a racist...............WAKE up...!!!!!!

If my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle. Every team has dropped passes and overthrows. It's part of the game. What a ridiculous ******* argument.

Who gives a **** if marshas highest td count was against the steelers? The great Rex Ryan didn't give gronk 3 tds or Marsha 4 tds. Too bad he could keep other people from scoring, eh?

Hooray, the Steelers gave up 361 yards, 4 passing TDs, allowed a 64% conversion rate on third downs, 5 times were down by double digits, and gave up a 79 yard touchdown drive in just 2 minutes after they finally pulled within 7. All in a loss, impressive! But, hey, at least it wasn't 40 points, moral victory, let James Harrison add it to his kids' participation awards.

By the way, yeah, the Bills held Gronk to 1TD instead of 3, but the guy who got the other 2 TDs was Edelmen. Against the Bills he caught 11 passes for 97 yards. His numbers against the Steelers? The same 11 catches for 97 yards.

Look, the Steelers D is improving and playing better against teams of varying offensive talent. And I have no doubts that they will continue to improve as they go on. But this idea that they did something great in that Pat game just because the Pats were 12 shy of 40 points is pretty silly. For god's sake, they didn't even know where to line up. They were lucky to get out of there at 28 and that the Steeler offense only turned it over once. The Bills O turned it over 3 times, twice giving Brady the ball at the Bills 30 or closer. There's your two extra scores and 40 points.

Mitchell's been taking people out left and right. He's like a assassin out there, flying at ball carriers full speed like Troy used to do... but with better aim. (except the time he missed and hit Ike of course)

Yeah, but. Tom's best TD day so far is still against the Steelers with 4. His average yards per pass attempt was best against the Steelers at 9 yards. His best overall passer rating so far was against the Steelers at 143.7, tops is 158. They were a dropped pass and an overthrow away from giving up 42.

The Patriots had to punt four times against the Steelers D. That's four stops on Tommyboy. They've punted ONCE in the last two games. Moral victory, I know, but still a victory in that respect.

The reason they didn't punt against Buffalo is because they fumbled it once and turned it over on downs twice.

All people were saying on here was that Marsha would put up 50 on the Steelrers ****** D. Then when it didn't happen, you still birch and moan. "But, ark, gronk scored 3 tds, ***** moan ***** moan. Besides, they dropped some passes or it WOULD HAVE BEEN 42!!!"

The great Rex Ryan comes out and says "ya gotta cover Gronk". Now that is a coach that knows how to run a defense! Oh, wait, they gave up 40+?

Off-season we heard what a great D the Seahawks have. Steelers hold the Rams to 9 and "well it is just the Rams and Nick Files". The same Rams TEAM, that put up 30+ against that incredible Seahawks Defense.

WTF?!! How am I going to justify my preconceived notions now!! Oh, I know, I will spout a bunch of hyperbole to put down another poster who was just pointing out that maybe, just maybe, the D isn't as horrible as people are saying.

Did anyone say they did great? Did I? I don't think so. They didn't do as bad, compared to other teams, one run by a coach who many here consider to be a better coach than Tomlin, nor did they do as bad as many here predicted. Compared to the other teams the *s have played, they did pretty ******* well for a team that is so terribly coached, confused and lacking in talent.

If that is what helps you sleep at night, go for it.

What are you even talking about? Rambling on about stuff other people thought or said before the season doesn't have one bit to do with me or what I posted. Hyperbole, putting down posters? All I said was that I didn't see their 28 point performance on the surface being impressive given what actually happened underneath. And then you jumped in getting all rammy and uppity by saying **** like, "what a ridiculous ******* argument. If my aunt had balls blah, blah, blah." That's ******* hyperbole if I ever heard it. Yeah, I get it, some of you are happy with them giving up 28 in yet another ****** loss to the Pats just because the Pats put up 40 on the Bills and 50 on the Jags. And I ain't. No use kicking a dead horse on this. Over and out, off to sleep really well tonight, as usual.

Scoring defense and situational defense is more important than total yards gained defense. When the Rats most recently won the Superbowl they were the 17th ranked D. Their red zone D was #1. That is what you need now in the league. Bend but don't break. Trade FGs for TDs, and be opportunistic in acquiring turnovers to give the offense more chances to score.

Cope, great post and NAIL on HEAD. It's a FF league now days. Care less about the 20s, but hold the score. It's all about the score. THERE is NO "D" in the nfl so to speak and at this trend, 5 or 6 years from now, the "D" won't even need to take the field.
