For his career, Scobee has hit 70-79 FGs from the 30-39 distance (88.6%).

I bring this up since his XP fiascos, as XPs are now 33 yds.

Last year, Kickers made 92.8% of FGs attemped from the 33 (154-166).

To contrast this, Suisham (to this point in his career) has made 60 of 71 from the 30-39 distance (84.5%).

Not a whole lot of difference. Both are 33 years old, too.

The telling difference is...

Scobee has 251 touchbacks
Suisham has 139

So while Scobee may not make the XP as often as we fans desire, we're almost assured that our Special Teams won't have to do as much tackling on kick returns. That, in itself, is a huge step up.

Scobee is gonna find his rhythm. What concerns me most is when we get into November/December and play in weather. Missing XP then will be catastrophic.

I think Scobee will be ok, but I'm dumping him off my fantasy team.

Again, there is only one reason to take the XP these days, that is down by one or tied near the end of the game... go for 2 in EVERY other scenerio... and if you are inside the 40, go for it on 4th and less than 5... inside the 20, unless you need points late, go for it unless it is 4th and 10 or greater. new NFL, New strategy. the math works in the favor of the agressive offensive team these days

lol! hypocritical!!!

:D It's because I expect the Steelers to keep going for two and unless they start trying FGs again, he doesn't look like he's going to have all that many opportunities. But I do think he will start kicking better.

I think scoobe is getting a pass due to reputation. If it had been any other kicker i think he would have been booted. He has been terrible to this point. Hopefully he can turn it around, but if he has one more bad week i would get someone else.

His TB's are the only reason I'm not constantly mad at him...I figure if we get 2 two point conversions, every game, that should even out the balance...

Yep we have to remember that the new distance for XP's makes this a whole new world... an XP is not a sure thing anymore. Long kickoffs are way way more important than field goals. if you have a kicker that kicks off short you are going to give up more field goals and TDs anyhow... and a field goal surrendered due to cruddy field position is almost just as bad as missing one... though they always get good FP after a miss too. there is far less of a chance for a KRTD though, and that is a huge swing there
