Brandon Boykin confirmed he was the #Steelers' nickel back today and expects to play Sunday

Unfortunately I believe he'll be facing Anquan Boldin in the slot against San Fran

Just label our secondary "We are the smurfs"

Im sure that Gay will move to the slot and Boykin will go outside.

Could be a smart move. I think Boykin is the best cover corner on this roster at the moment. I still wish he would have played vs the pats. Let's see how he fairs out this weekend. Maybe he can be that spark in the secondary per se

Oh no that would have been a dumb move... If he would have played last Thursday, there was a good possibility he would have screwed up the chemistry of that well oiled machine that is the Steeler's secondary.

You're about a miserable asshat.

Let's see...Brady completed 11 out of out 12 passes at one point. Would Boykin really have done any worse?

I believe at one point he completed 19 straight....a franchise record.

Boykin ranked as one of the top ten best CBs in the league last year... Allen was benched, gay is older and just ok, I honestly do not understand why he wasn't playing... The pats aren't exactly loaded with big physical WRs

I fully expected to hear that he was injured and was healthy enough to play if needed, but they didn't want to force him into action. Based on his comments, that apparently wasn't the case.

I suppose he had to learn this extremely complicated defense. Come on, give me a break why don't you.

Could be a good excuse...except that apparently, nobody else knows our defense either!

Tom Brady knows the defense.

Drew Brees knows the defense.

Matt Ryan knows the defense.

Joe Flacco knows the defense.

The only ******* people who don't know the ******* defense are the Steelers defenders.

Sure, Boykin is going to get thrown on and sometimes look below average but he gives the defense something it needs and that is a play maker. He can actually intercept passes which makes up for some of his other short-comings, IMO.

He could have been better. Gotta stay somewhat optimistic of a decaying Stillers team

As Tunch would say, good point by you. Hopefully SF QB won't have a better understanding of our defense as well.

An article I read yesterday had Boykin saying he had no idea why he didn't play but if things kept going that direction, he would have to have a chat with the coaches. The dude wants to start and on this team, he damn well should. Get him in there, take a few lumps learning the system, and in a few games, he will be the best player in our secondary. Heck, he may be the best player back there the moment he steps on the field.

I wasn't really impressed with the guy in preseason. Especially on STs when he creamed the run back guy who had signaled for a fair catch.
