At least in part.

Impossible. Jarvis is a total bust. So is the defense. We'll lose every game this season by 30 points or more...

This is the reason nobody respects sport journalism. He pulls 4 plays out of 24. One of those 4 his accomplishment is "He got an arm on Lewis". He didn't tackle him nor did he change his direction. He did nothing but he got his arm on him. Jones is falling backwards and gets his arm on Lewis. WOW.. just a few more series like that and they'll pick up his 5th year option. Jones had 2 good plays. He scraps the line and tackles the RB and then he forces Brady up in the pocket. That's it. 2 plays out of 24 where he does anything at all.

Ultimate team game. Just because you didn't make the tackle or record a stat for a play doesn't mean you didn't do your job.

Then why didn't he show all the plays where he did his job? He didn't. He's the one that pulled 4 plays out of 24 that show that Jones is finally starting to get it. So I should have the opportunity to look at his own findings. Falling down and throwing your arm out isn't your job. What NFL Lb can't stand there and just wait for a RB to run through the hole and flail his arms? It's a bogus article written for fan boys. I'm sure I could do the same for Hood in his 4 years. You wish we had him back? Also the idea that 4 plays (even if all 4 were good which they weren't) out of 24 shows "consistency" is laughable.

This isn't the 70's.

This was the first game of the season.

We have a new DC.

Jarvis has played in a total of 22 games in his NFL career (the first season he play 14 games as a rookie in the "complex" Dick LeBeau schemes).

Honestly, it is very understood that some don't like Jarvis (or Mike Vick), just because, but, they are Steelers - as fans of the Steelers we should root for them. No???

The problem I see in some of these pictures is this team badly needs much better play from the NT. McClendon is worthless and it all starts with that position. If we had a dominant NT this defense would have a different look to it. I thin Jarvis will get better but it would so badly benefit him with a stronger NT.

As far as I can tell the only thing that Jarvis Jones has done wrong is be drafted in the first round. I wish he had produced more at this point, but even small victories like the 2 or 3 plays versus Solder this past Thursday is something that he can continue to build on. If he can produce 5-6 plays next game and maybe 8-9 the one after and keeps improving he can still become a good player. Would that be a bad thing? Because the defense has been on a downswing in recent years fans hope that draft picks come in and make an impact immediately (and, I'm sure the FO does as well), when it doesn't happen fans lose their patience and start to hate a guy for no reason. Jones is a Steeler; I'm a Steeler fan, so I want him to be great, but I won't hate him if he isn't. Heck, I never met him, how can I dislike him?

Fans boys?? They have never come off at fans boys at that site. He took 4 plays and broke them down. Now you want them to do all 24 plays the guy was in cause your not satisfied. Jarvis also recieved a Plus grade for the game from PFF. So maybe he did have an ok game.

I'll say this again, "ain't no need for good ol' logic 'round here..."

You know as well as me that he looked at more than 4 plays. Why did he selected those 4? You know so go ahead and use some "logic" and tell me.

I don't know anything. I've seen the same guy illustrate Jarvis doing nothing so I'm not getting the problem here..
Jarvis has a ok game. It's OK. Was it enough nope. We need dominant games. But he did have an ok game he did his job. Two different sites had him on the plus side of things..

Because they only have about 3 writers and he writes 2 - 3 articles a day so he didn't have time to provide a break down of all 24 plays while still holding down his day job? Dave Bryant from that site has been one of the people that was most vocal about hating the Jones pick. It was actually so bad with them that I stopped opening their articles if I saw "Jarvis Jones" in one of their headlines. Now, I haven't read the article you guys are discussing, but my first thought is that if THEY said he had a decent game, there must be something he did right.

I looked at the plays. He got off his block nice and made a good run stuff. He had a decent bull rush that led to what should have been a incomplete and possibly an interception. Hell of a play by Brady to complete that ball. However, if this is the major progress, it is a long ways to fulfilling the promise of a first round pick.

Fair enough

Ahhh hell, from the way you stated "4 plays" Vader, I thought they cherry picked four plays spread through out the game. They picked an entire series. Not that it matters much to the point you were making. Just found it interesting.

I think that won't happen, right now I'd be happy with a 2nd/3rd round kind of production, like a Worilds

That wasn't the entire series. That was a set of 4 plays within the series NOT the entire series. They cherry picked those 4 plays within a 9 play drive. Everybody knows why they looked at those plays. It was the only tackle Jones had the entire game. Does anybody really think that was random? Really?

Also when someone proclaims a good play when a LB is falling on his back and gets his arms out to touch a guy then they are obviously grasping at straws. Only a homer would call that a good play.

I root for every STEELER player. Wish them the best. But, there are some that don't pull their weight. I still cheer for them.

But I refuse to cheer for the ones that have raped me or ****** my sister....

well you know, there's always a line that should not be crossed

I'm still not impressed. It's year 3 for a first round pick and this is supposed to get me excited? 24 snaps with a couple decent plays and nothing to highlight. He still can't get a 37 year old out of the starting lineup. This kind of production may have been fine in days of yore if you were a later round guy sitting behind guys like Lloyd, or Porter, but this kind of stuff doesn't fly anymore. Especially not for a first rounder. He was brought in to be an impact player on a team that desperately needs one, and so far he's not providing it in my book.

Jarvis was a second rounder. Bell was the first rounder. Just keep telling yourself that and realize they will keep him until he shows something or his contract expires. I'd expect the latter.
