The Good, the Bad and the ugly

Does anyone think the 49ers defense is much worse than the pats***? Plus they have Bolden, Ellington, and Torrey Smith as WRs. They also have Davis still at TE, Carlos Hyde and Bush out of the backfield. Plus Kapper is still a good runner. This won't be a cake walk IMHO.

Certainly not. At least we are at home and the 49ers are in a bit of a difficult spot since they play on Monday night and a later than usual MNF kickoff and then have to travel to across the country for a 1pm kick. I think the game will be decided based on whether our D can produce a turnover or two.

I think the Steelers will look like world beaters for this game. Like they had against the colts/ravens last season. Then we will all be in a cheery mood. But us realist will say they executed well. But will they stay consistent? Then we get labeled "Tomlin Bashers"....the saga continues

Vader nailed the coaching. I have been a Tomlin guy, but it was amateur hour out there. The only thing is Belecheat does that to a lot of coaches.

As per the defense, the Pats have done that to a hell of a lot better defenses than the Steelers. The issue was the offense not taking advantage of opportunities. Vader nailed that one to during the preseason where he questioned why everyone thinks this offense is going to put up 30 a game. They never have. Ben isn't that perfect type precision QB He is great, but you will never see that surgical type stuff.

I disagree with the Jarvis hate. Look, I am not saying he is fantastic or anything, but until the Steelers can get somebody, anybody in the secondary who can jam a receiver and disrupt timing, you ain't getting a pass rush. You just ain't. JJ Watt isn't sniffing Brady.

Anybody know who had the Green Dot Helmet on last night?
uh, obviously Tomlin...

Common statement made by me last night, "What the **** are they doing, there not lined up yet (def), there not even covering the players up." "Do they not know there ******* position?"

The Def was terrible last night. I think we win this game if they were just in position, and in there position immediately not ***** footing around. How many ******* times did we have 10 guys on the field.

They just played like they only had ten.

ALL I want...is for the STEELERS to tackle. Tired of arm tackles, just trying to hit, and standing and watching others try and tackle....*******?

This D used to be feared for their toughness and non-stop energy. What we have seen the last few years is small college ball, at the best in forms of tackling...

This offense isn't that good without Bell and Bryant. Even with Bell last year they only averaged around 22 PPG until Bryant was inserted. Bryant won't be back for this game. So I see this as a tough game. One good thing is that SF has lost a lot of players and their coaching staff is untested. Maybe Tomlin can out coach Tomsula who was a DL coach before he became the HC?

SF lost a **** load of players. Even before that they were having a rough year.

The first home game coming off a loss?

And this isn't looked at as a Raider or a Jacksonville team (as in they won't play down).

............yeah I fully expect to be sitting at 1 and 1 going into game 3.

I can see the Steelers taking this game in easy fashion for some reason. I think the offense is fine. True, no Bell, no Bryant. DeAngelo looked good thursday. Our defense is horrible. But I think this is one of those games where they shut us naysayers up for the week. Feeling good about this game

I think they'll win but this won't be a cakewalk. Everybody thinks the offense is going to be fine but NE isn't a good defense and they couldn't score. The defense still sucks. This won't be easy.

Pats are not a good team just because we didn't do as bad as most thought doesn't mean this team is going somewhere.

One very big positive was the offensive line - great pass protection, opened massive holes for Williams. Add Bell and Bryant to this offense, and wow.

As to Tomlin's incompetence at clock management and the Steelers terrible pass coverage ... I don't know what to say. The more things never change, the more they look like a GODDAMN REPLAY.

I will ask for perhaps the 10th time in the past 5 years - why do NFL teams other than the Steelers have defensive backs and linebackers routinely making 2-3 plays on a ball in the air during a game, while the Steelers have none? Is it theory, technique, talent, coaching, all of the above?? Cornerbacks and safeties must be able to track a pass while it is in the air, and make a move to bat it down or INTERCEPT THE @#$% THING.

You know, something called "pass defense." Give it a try, Steelers.

Next week prediction? Steelers move the ball and control the clock all the first half and go into the locker room up 10-7

Also as a coach if I saw one more of my defenders tackling above the shoulders I would bench him.
So tired of watching players try and tackle someone around the shoulders and give up way more yards or get the tackle broken
And go for a big gain.
Throw a shoulder in and bounce of the offensive player. WTF !!!!

Bush league & I see it . Every game in the NFL & a lot in Pittsburgh

NFL training camps used to teach and practice tackling. They don't anymore. This is the result.

I'm gonna let go with my ugly... Lots of beautiful in that game we all saw it... But.. Get out the flame throwers.. The ugly to me was Haley. What a horrible play caller. How do you go from going to college on a golf free ride to offensive coordinator in nfl. I mean man his play calling looks like golf. He's probably a good coord just a horrible play caller. That dippsy doodle right in the middle of a dog fight and we are kicking their *** was a steaming pile of ****. And then stayed with the run way too long. We are down but the play action was there and we have a 100 million dollar a year guy at qb, and he kept running the ball. He's a fuking dork that's doesn't belong coaching the black and gold. Sorry...

Yep, Next week they have the potential to go 0 - 2.

You are correct sir.

And let me be clear here. I'm not being uber-negative guy here. I'm pointing out that they lost. You can talk about potential all you ******* want. Tomlin, once again has the team utterly unprepared for the season opener. I'm shocked the P*ts cheated! Who ******* saw that coming?

Tomlin needed to have the team ready to play their A ******* game in every phase and they played what, a C-? maybe?

Don't talk about potential. Talk about the reality of what happened. The P*ts cheated AGAIN, the league turned it's head AGAIN, Tomlin was unprepared AGAIN, the defense looks like dogshit AGAIN, our center is on IR AGAIN, we have major offensive role-players suspended AGAIN...

We have potential to be 0 - 2 next week. That's the very real situation. Sorry for bringing ya down man. I love the Steelers, hate the WWF, er WWE, I mean NFL.

Dude if this team loses at home to the completely and utterly decimated 49ers, I think we should fire Tomlin. I'm not even exaggerating at all. That 49ers team had the worst offseason of all time. We can NOT lose to them if we want to have any semblance of a good season

The elimination of two a days I am sure had some sort of impact on the lack of tackling...

Couldn't agree more.... This game has been on the schedule for months.... I mean you literally had months to prepare for Brady and his style of play and that is the best you can come up with? The only reason the Pats only scored 28 was because the Steelers held the ball on a few nice drives.... didn't score any points off most of them, but they did manage to keep Brady off the field somewhat, which is almost like scoring I guess... The less time he's out there the less time he has to make monkeys out of our pass defense.
