crybaby thread - scared of tommy boy

Every messageboard I have attended throughout the years, bengals, broncos, Pats, they all have people bitching about playing off the man... its staple throughout the league and if you did press every play you would give up a ton of long pass plays when the wr beats it cleanly, which given the same look over and over, they will do from time to time....

Agreed. but on third and one we play with a 10 yard cushion almost every single time. I'm guessing other teams do this also except when they play us because it seems like they press ours guys most of the time in that type of situation.

I am calling it now... Jarvis Jones falls into Brady and puts him out of the game... Jones goes from whipping boy to Steelernation hero... his play unfortunately stays average... lol

You see, the problem is that the "naysayers" WANT to find something to complain about.

Yes, we won't have Bell, Pouncey or Bryant. Yes, our defense is not the same defense that Coach LeBeau fielded over the past decade. Yes, Troy and the others are gone.

We haven't seen but a "quick blip" of what this defense can do (re: safety for a sack in the GB pre-season game) --- every other game the defense and offense was VANILLA.

So, I choose to believe that Coach Butler will be prepared and so will the first team defense. Of course I expect the P*ts to score points - but, their defense isn't any better than ours as they only have ONE DAMN DB returning from last year. Their LB's are big and mostly slow - run stoppers - so, I expect Ben to have a field day.

We shall see - but, my vision remains positive...

Good attitude Bermuda. Maybe a lot of us here. Myself included just need to get into football mode. It's been a long offseason and the football hype hasn't been felt yet

I'll be in football mode on Thursday morning. I despise the pre-season and there's not too much to gauge. We know who will not be there and who will. Other than, anything can happen come Thursday night. I'm sure Foxboro will be rockin', though. Got to shut them up early and often. Brady could put up 50 on us, but Ben could match him. We've seen huge games from Big Ben in the not too distant future. Hope this is another one.

Can't lie... I put a hundred bucks down on the pats when it was 2.5.

I think you should basically take a roughing the passer penalty anytime you can put a real good lick on the QB in the 1st Quarter. Changes how the QB plays the rest of the game.

I agree, we need to stand him up until big Dan can get to him and pancake his Whiney smug ***

I say someone should poke his eyes under a pile. A little less than gauging. But still ;)

Give ole' Marsha a few cheap shots

Maybe Fister Wallace can play a few snaps at DT?

Then again, M*sha would probably like that.

I wouldn't mind losing it.
But I won't

I would just like to see the LB core take the extra step to keep pounding him to the turf. A few roughing the passer calls would not upset me.

**** Brady, last possession wins in the first week of arena ball ... Stillers 58 Cheaters 56

It's going to be ugly.

Not only are we heavily outmanned on both sides of the ball, the coaching staff of ours is good for at least 2 losses a year. No way is Tomlin and company going to outcoach this team.

Ya know.....I'm not an anti-Tomlin guy, or should I say I haven't been up 'till now but watching some of the young talent around the league makes me wonder. Our overall talent level seems to be on the decline since his tenure started and I see some other teams like Denver and Philly doing just the opposite. Time will either bear this perception out or not but for now I have to agree with ya Hook....it don't look promising.

Brady carved the Steelers up when the defense was tops in the league. What do you think he's gonna do to this group? At least in years past we could stop the run so he had to beat us through the air, which he did rather easily. Now it looks like he's going to be able utilize his running game too, which will open up play action and keep our horrible defense guessing all night. Do I hope this happens? Of course not, but I'm just not a rah rah guy like some around these parts. I'm a pragmatic person that bases my predictions on what I observe, and what I've observed is that we have a proven quarterback with a history of shredding good Steeler defenses going up against what right now looks like one of the worst defenses in a while to wear the black & gold. Combine this with the fact that the game is in Foxboro, in prime time, their championship banners being unfurled which is going to have the fans all fired up... which is gonna get the Pats all fired up... It all points to an *** whooping. Hopefully Ben can match them point for point, but it probably is going to take him having a career night to do it.

Exactly. Between cheating and Belcheat being 10x the coach that Tomlin is, they would routinely ***-rape LeBeau and the defense back when they were good. Belicheat and Br*dy are 6-2 vs. the Stillers and they scored 40 or more points in 4 of those 6 wins and hung 55 on us the last time, again when the defense was better than it is now.
I'm just gonna chill out and see if the Pats** score 70 this time.

Sept 10th will be could be a long night.

Brady has owned us in the past when we had a better pass rush, and secondary.

His quick strike precision passing makes him tough to sack, and he quickly finds the open man who zigs or zags shaking the coverage person.

The Steelers will have to decide death by 1,000 paper cuts, or gamble with closer to the line DB's and send 6 men on the rush.

I say be aggressive, and try to force a turn over as Brady is going to score and get the defense tried on longer drives.

We'll see how Butler plays it. If Butler backs off, its going to be a long night.

IMO, I see the Pats as being one-dimensional right now. Though that one-dimension has a lot of extra-curricular activity going on, as it is their strength - the passing game.

If I were Butler, I'd ******* line up McCullers' big *** right on top of Gronk and just beat his *** down for the first 5 yards off the LOS. If he moves, McCullers moves. After that 5 yards, send McCullers in to rush and let Shazier/Timmons pick up Gronk. Sounds insane, but we simply can't let Gronk/Brady/Sony get into a rhythm.

Aaron Dobson is on the PUP list. Their only credible WR is Edelman.
Blount is suspended, so they'll start either Brandon Bolden or Lewis at RB. While our defense does suck (based on pre-season Christmas tree lighting), we should be able to contain those two.

Though I have a feeling Edelman will look like Ed McCaffrey out there while their unknown WR will resemble shades of Rice.
