Its what I see with my eyes when I see him in games. Dude catches everything and always is open. Am I just being entirely too optimistic?

More because of his background than his play so far. But I think Hines had a year or two as a college wr. And we don't know yet if Murphy can block or make tough catches in traffic against starters. But the Bryant situation does give him a shot.

I think there might be a wee bit of Hines in him....i hope he makes the roster

great point on the blocking part of the comparison....but to be fair I can't think of anyone who blocked like Hines Ward in the history of the game at the WR position...lol. Im excited to watch Murphy takes steps forward the rest of the pre season!!

Maybe a mix of Randle El and Hines. The kid has a lot of upside

hmmm.....only from the college qb to wr perspective...

But I like how your thinking...

There's definitely potential there and a year on the PS would do him a ton of good honing his craft. So far I like him more than Bryant.

No

sorry, cut him too

we need about 20 roster spots filled on defense

there are plenty of defensive guys we can cut instead

you have to replace them - the whole DL can be cut and replaced by waiver wire scrubs and nobody would notice - can we take Cam's money back?

none of these bums are worth minumum wage

thing is it is obvious we are in need of a SS and it is obvious Sham and Jones aren't up to the consistent task.

So why not sit the two, bring them in as spot duty and sign a vet SS ?

I am not getting the FOs approach on a few things.............

Nope.

Not even close.

Hines was a once in a generation kind of player.

What I see ia a good candidate for practice squad and maybe next season the team makes a randle el kind of player out of him

No.

Murphy has done a nice job transitioning to receiver after playing quarterback most of training camp, but I haven't seen anything more than a borderline practice squad player at this point.

Nothing special, small and no real speed, I would keep Goodwin or Phillips over him, they have size and jumping ability,

He's 6:2/213 which I think is bigger than Goodwin or Phillips and probably bigger than Hines. Not sure of his 40 speed.

Id keep him over Laundry... hed have about the same chance of winning a game if he had to play and frankly he would be way more useful on gameday

Huh??? Murphy over Martavis? Wow...

Well, he's eligible to play... That's a positive.

Tell you what... Let's take a bet on how many yards Martavis gets over the first two weeks of the season. I bet zero and I'll give you the under. Whattya say?

What, no takers? Ok - I'll liven up the pot. I'll up it to 4 weeks! FOUR WEEKS, ZERO yards. I'll take the under!

Anyone?

There are some ground floor comparisons. I think Murphy is a tick slow though ( 4.6 forty ) , and has a limited route tree. IE, he is not a deep threat, and might have issues getting open vs. starting corner backs. How is he on special teams?
