Vick meeting with Steelers

For a back-up QB??? No, not worth the risk. Most of us bleed black and gold. The locker room may be different in that the priority may not be the team (although Ben has already weighed in) but in their own self-preservation BUT they will be NO different in that some will be dog lovers and find Vick's past and the fan reaction too controversial for the associated gain. He is a Back-up QB, after all.

The only thing about this argument is we are now what 5 or 6 years into his reinstatement and this has never ever been a reported issue anywhere... heck in a few of those locker rooms he was supposedly one of the better influences... The guy was an *******, maybe he still is, but he paid his debt and got his second chance... whether he is signed or not wont change the past and it wont save a single dog anywhere. I see a lot of moral outrage over long spilt milk.

chances are there will be dog lovers in the locker room

even a slight chance that it would cause problems, wouldn't be worth the risk IMO

not a chance. these are professionals, they'll get over it. if someone wants to make a problem out of it, I'm sure it'll get hashed-out in-house with the quickness. could not be less worried about that, quite frankly.

even IF

why risk it?

it isn't like Vick is a backup saviour

even if a fan doesn't understand dog lovers hatred for the man

why risk even the slightest bit of trouble when you can pick up a backup come final cuts

arguably equal value

Whatever the hell Vick an AP has to do with bear hunting, but... AP did what he did out of anger and to discipline his kid. I don't condone it but I don't think it makes him as sick in the head as someone who tortures kids or dogs for amusement.

And I'm not talking about just dog fighting. I'm talking about Vick experimenting with different methods of killing dogs once he was done with them.

I'd wager that if a video existed of Vick torturing dogs to death, he would have never been given a second chance. But I guess it's easy for people to overlook without it.
AP beat a three year old kid. A three year old kid has barely any sense of consequence. That has nothing to do with discipline. One man on the team has a TV show dedicated to killing animals for sport. Another man did something very cruel and wrong to dogs for sport. He paid for it with his freedom, his reputation and his money. If you can't make a connection between pure trophy hunting and animal cruelty, I can't really help you.

I also have no interest in Rice or a certain ex 49er for the record either...

looks to me like our front office/coaches don't agree with this assessment. I'm sorry this pisses you off so much, steel

As someone who lives in Philly. I heard all the radio sports talk, news...etc when he came to the Eagles right after his release. Most of the city, friends swore off the Eagles. "F them and Vick" was the point made for the most part. Slowly but surely things changed for most, not all, but most.

He was a model citizen out here. Attending all kinds of events in the inner city talking to youths about what he did and how dog fighting is bad...etc etc. did he fruely repent. I don't know. But he talk the talk.

I think he is a piece of **** and rather not have him. if we do, I hope he never sees the field and is cut right before we win the SB.

I dont really think there will be a locker room issue. most of these guys work out, socialize and are friends if not friendly off the field regardless of what teams they play for..

Not a new stance for me, so not pissed. Just simply despise the man and wish him on any other uniform other than the team I love.

what was it a few posts back about cats deserving the same rights as dogs?

So are there cat fighting rings?

No, but there are reasons animal shelters don't allow black cats to be adopted during the month of October.

give me a call Jenny, you ******* *******

Boykin didn't seem to have anything bad to say about Vick. I'll take him for his word.

I'm a dog lover, and I have no issue if they sign him.

If the last month or so hasn't given everyone a little perspective, I don't know what to say. We have Planned Parenthood dissecting live babies, and we will get all hot and bothered over a guy who fought dogs and if the Steelers will sign him?

This (ten characters)

a friend and fellow Steeler fan just told me that Vick and Tomlin are from the same neighborhood and their families are tight....

jusssst sayin'.

Bottom line. The Steeelrs have two viable QB's in camp. Boyd couldn't even rate playing in a preseason game. So if someone has a list of players they would prefer over Mike Vick I'd like to see it. But waiting till cutdown or making a trade really aren't viable options.

fought dogs?

killed dogs over and over and over and over again

the act of betting and fighting

is minor in comparison...........

why isn't it?

I just threw up in my mouth.

I am not going to spit it out quite yet as I want to pair it with the nauseousness

that's overtaking me at the moment.............

We coulda had Tebow..... but none of you so-called non-wife-beating righteous christians had my back

see how that turned out?

Tomlin says no deal yet
