They went about it a little different this year. They tried lowering the payment $5 at a time and didn't want to go below $180.

I turned it off. Hope you all have better success than me.

has anyone tried getting it on a ps3?
ditched directv/cable months ago and football is the only thing i feel like we'll miss

Work on Sunday's now. Glad they offer it without having to have directv now. Will gladly pay the $199..

Meh, we'll pay for it again. Still a hell of a lot cheaper than going to a bar every week to watch the game. Much safer too.

Plus, even the weeks the Steelers are national, we're not stuck watching Jacksonville or Atlanta who are the "local" teams here.

Its like insurance. Nobody wants it but you need it. If I was more technology oriented I'd split the NFL gameday or whatever it is called with someone. I do that with NHL. Problem is, you either watch it on small screens or lose a lot of picture quality at least I find. So I'll pay again.

I haven't decided. I have had it forever but I'm just not as passionate about the NFL as I once was.

And even less enthusiastic to pay top dollar.

Contract expires in September, if I can't get it at the introductory price for a new subscriber I think I'm going to tap out.

I always cancel right after the season ends. I got it free last year, + the Redzone package, and they lowered my phone bill $10 a month, I have a bundle.

Haven't tried yet for this year. The DirecTV retention supervisor I talked with was a Steelers fan in Atlanta, he done me good. I never take any free offerings all year, hoping to pile up the benefits.

got an e-mail from them for a Center Ice class action lawsuit - looks like I'll get a free month of hockey this year

I dropped all cable, everything. I have a internet streeamer and $8.00 a month netflix. Don't miss a thing. I patronize this bar on sundays for the steelers game. Been doing it anyways for last 15years. I get treated like a king and always reserved seat. best seat in house. AWESOME !!!!!!!

We don't have a good Steelers bar anymore. Quaker Steak was great a few years ago, but the food went to **** and the fans quit going there. So I'll pony up another year...

I promise I am telling the truth here. I have not paid a cent for the Sunday ticket with red zone for the past 7 seasons. I call every August and ask for customer retention. I explain to them that I am one of their first 1000 customers in the country (which is true...been with them since 94) and I have serious issues with new customers getting the ticket for free while I have to pay after so many years of loyal service. If they can't give it to me for free then I would like to discontinue my service. I am not rude at all, calm the entire call....works every time. Good luck!

**** I just pay the price they tell me. I would spend at least $100 any given Sunday at a steelers bar so I consider myself lucky for only paying $199

Just wanted to share my experience this year.

The original representative tried to low ball me and offered a whopping nine dollars a month off my bill. I declined saying I wasn't under contract and would just cancel and put it in my wife's name in the next month. Their reply was "they are hip to that" and if it's at the same address they just reactivate the old account. After pointing out that I have been a long time customer and other companies are offering much cheaper cable options if they couldn't do better I would shop elsewhere.

Customer rep. "I'll give you $20 a month off your bill for a year totaling $240 effectively paying for the ticket. I again said no. Final offer was $30 a month off the bill for a year paying for Sunday ticket and a month of DTV. Nope as IBWT said I've been a customer since the nineties and I'm not gonna pay for things you give to new customers for free. Retention please.

Retention cut right through the bull **** gave me the ticket for free and $50 dollars a month off my bill for a year, which basically cut it in half and only under contract for said year. No Red Zone Max though. Overall I'm happy. It beats paying what the bill on the fridge said. Good Luck Steeler Nation!

I've considered going the "all streaming" route, but the issue I have with it is the content is still very limited relative to its cable/satellite peers.

There are no live sports and they cannot gain the rights to recent top movies to the extent that HBO, Cinemax and Starz can.

Streaming is definitely the future, but for me, the "future" is not quite here yet,

I bought it the first year it was available, kept it till 2012. I haven't had it since, not nearly invested as I was years ago. Too bad for the NFL, as I can now buy just about anything I want, not so much before. I not only dropped NFLST, but I have not given a single dime to the NFL in any shape or form since 2012.

I am considering doing the same or something similar. I watch almost nothing on cable other than news and football, movies via dvd.

There used to be a good crowd at Baileys besides Hooters not sure if it is still good though.

has nobody tried the ticket via playstation?

I had it for my phone and tablet last year, and I'll get it on my ps4 this year. Being out of market sucks, but I think it should be okay.. I had it on my ps3 a few years ago and the picture was trash for the first game or so, I guess they weren't prepared with enough bandwidth. But it got better after

Is there any chance of getting it free if I started a new contract at roughly week 11 of last year?

I bought it every year from 2000 till 2010 or 2011. The football they're playing now isn't worth a dime of my money! 2009 was the last year where you could kind of play defense.

I'm holding out on re-upping for this season to see if U-verse will begin offering it (now that the AT&T purchase of DirecTV is finalized).

If so, I'll dump DTV. Their programming packages are too expensive, the bill is rarely the same for rmore than a couple of months in a row, and I'm tired of outages when it rains.

U-verse can't be worse.

I refuse to fund Roger Goodell. I havent bought hardly any NFL licensed merch in years. I dont watch NFL Net. I will watch at the bar, national broadcast, etc. The last game I went too, the tickets were from a vendor.

He has taken the wind out of my sails in regards to the sport. I used to eat, breathe and sleep football. I could still chat intelligently about the game, but I just dont really care too anymore

There was a time I would have eaten ramen for a year to pay for Sunday Ticket.

Im sad. :(

A friend of mine that works for AT&T said they were told in meetings that it wouldn't be available on the U-Verse platform. AT&T has lied before.

So this is what I ended up getting after two hours of going back and forth. They will give me a $10 a month credit for being a long time customer and $10 credit for my DVR and all of that for a year. I get the top NFL sunday ticket programming with Mobile, and red zone blah blah for $167. So in a "technical" sense I get $73 and the ticket free.
