We'll see where we are in two years, Zona. I pray and hope for the best for this country, this nation, this Republic.
America welcomed in my refugee parents with open arms in the 1950s, as they were forced to flee persecution from Soviet Communists in the aftermath of the Hungarian Revolution. The Red Army, called in from Moscow, rolled in with tanks, leaving bodies in their wake on the streets of Budapest, including my paternal grandfather, who was gunned down in cold blood.
America gave my mom and dad safety, security, and a chance to get an education, find decent work, start a family, and become an integral part of their community, and their church congregation, over six decades in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and in their later years in Cleveland. I want America to return to sanity and normalcy, particularly in the highest office in the land. I care not one iota if it comes from Republicans or Democrats, I just hope it happens in my lifetime.
