I just don't see it as bad money for Benton and Herbig. The way the cap goes up every year...the idea of a cap is almost an illusion. And Heyward is gonna retire at some point as is Watt. Or Highsmith will be traded. With Porter, I just think a corner, with the present rules enforcement, might be bad money. Come to think of it, maybe you're right about Herbig too, for that very reason. Hell, these guys can be held with impunity.
Idk, the biggest thing for me is the cap. I think it exists solely to give owners an excuse if they don't want to pay somebody. Instead of just saying they don't want to pay him, it's the cap, the cap! They have the right not to pay a guy if they don't want to.
