Possible. He's coming off his best year, and by all accounts Bryant is looking like a beast.

40 is definitely possible. I think anything less than 30 would be a disappointment unless Bell and the running game are tearing things up on the ground inside the 20.

10 Brown
10 Bryant
5 Wheaton
5 Bell
4 Miller
3 Coats
2 Williams
2 Misc Player (Archer/James/Spaeth/5th WR/eligible OL)

That's a conservative 42.

I think we're being awfully optimistic about our offense.

Last year (according to Football Outsiders) the average defense we played against was ranked 22nd in the league.

This year, I looked up all the DVOA rankings of who we are facing and they average 12th. We only face THREE teams that were in the bottom half of the defensive DVOA last season: Kansas City 19th (on the road), San Diego 25th (on the road) and Oakland 26th at home.

Everyone else on our schedule has a top-half defense in the league.

I think it is unrealistic to think we are going to exceed last year's production as greatly as some suspect. Especially with Bell out the first 3 games (against Patriots, 49ers and Rams - two of which are on the road). Then we come back with a short week at home against the Ravens.

I just suspect our offense will be slow out of the gate and might not look that good at the end of September. It will get better, but the schedule doesn't bode well for huge production or 35+ point games.

If Ben throws 40 TD's this football team with a defense that if it finishes middle of the pack would put us in a damn good spot come playoff time. That could translate into 12 or 13 wins.

Nice strong list Cope, allthough, I think coats and weaton # should be flipped. We have potential thats for sure. When we do get that many passing TDs, it will elevate along the way, the quality of our team play. Wins will be a little more than most expect.

Salute the nation

I don't see him throwing for 40 touchdowns. I think they want to be able to run the ball in the red zone and if they have success, they'll score more on the ground. You also have to consider that without Bell for the first three games, it will probably be an offense that's pretty one dimensional and that doesn't bode well, IMO.

If everyone stays healthy 40 is a possibility but I just don't see it with this years schedule. In the bloodbath that is today's NFL, it would be silly to assume all those weapons are going to play 16 games, or in Bell's case 13.

we've been wanting to run the ball better since Bus and Sweet Titties. broken record.
as for being one-dimensional, DeAngelo isnt bad at all and from all looks, Josh Harris is busting his *** this off-season. Hopefully, we'll be pleasantly surprised.

Bryant could be the key. The man was a big play and red zone weapon as a rookie. If he gets 10 or more TD receptions, Ben's throwing 40 of them!

Hell, Jerricho ******* Cotchery got 10 TDs in this offense, before it was good. I'm not worrying about facing better defenses. We sucked *** against the cupcakes, and dropped 6TDs on the Ravens in a game, so who the heck knows what's going to happen this year.

This offense is special. I called it last year when I saw flashes in September, and there they were near the top in January. There are weapons all over the skill positions, and our OL is now solid. I'm not afraid of them facing any D this year. Hell, even the guy everyone loves to hate, that lacks a position, has the ability to score, and he's not even close to being a starter.

Your opponents don't define you, and we're not playing last year's teams. Statistics are great for reference, but can never predict the future. Otherwise, I'd be a lot better at fantasy football...

I'll take the under

40 touch down passes is a lot. It might be but we will need to be scoring a lot of points. Three touch downs a game would get us to 48 on the season. If someone runs one in per game that is 16 from that total and gets us to 32 passes for touch downs. Add in two field goals per game and we end up with 27 points per game very respectable average but not one that hits 40 td passes.

Hate to say it, but if Ben throws for 40+ TDs this year, it will be because the Steelers are behind and having to throw. If the D is good, and the O takes a lead, they'd better take the air out of the ball - especially with Bell and Williams to help carry the load. If the D is good, long, time consuming drives that end in FGs are enough. Boring, I know.

Sure, we will play some better D's this year - maybe - as the season hasn't started. But, this league is built for offense now and our offense has the talent to be the best. I see 35 TD passes, at a minimum this year and 40 is easily in reach. If healthy, there is no reason this team should not be in the top 5 in all offense categories and number 1 in some of them.

Also, no air should ever be taken out of the ball in this league anymore. If you score by the air, you score by the air. If we have a 28 point lead in the first half, you continue to throw and score. Going into a "prevent" offense will get you burnt in this league. We have seen it happen to our Steelers way too many times. You must keep your momentum for 60 minutes and carry it into the next game. I don't care if we win 51-0. We should never stop going to our strength on offense.

I think Josh Harris is gonna surprise a lot of people. I know he hasn't done much, but he looked good breaking that long run that got called back against ???. In the playoff loss, they just totally went away from him. I was baffled at that decision to use Tate (who was just signed and sucked) over Josh.

Tate has pedigree... and its name brand over talent on this team sometimes...:/

Not a chance in hell, He could not get close last year despite having 2 6 TD games. He threw only 20 Tds in the other 14 games much closer to his career averages.

i love my team and would love seeing ben obliterate 40tds...but i'd take the under of that over/under of 40 all day

33-40 I could settle for a few less TD"s if it would been bad into I.e the saints game

Well if they improve offensively ......sure he could hit 40. Why couldn't he. Of course if they regress he might not hit 40. Well I think I covered myself on this subject. Next one?
